Heard last night on local news, that PG&E is possibly responsible for it, one of there workers reported a tree against the line, and small fire where it started. I can't begin to comprehend this, after the 2018 Camp fire. This thing is blowing up, eating a lot of good country.... pray for all in its path, and the safety of the firefighters
Mike

We have a home on the west shore of Almanor. We went up this afternoon to remove flammable items from our deck, and grab a few things in the house. We pulled the boat out of the water to bring home and brought the jeep home too. The fire is really getting close to the lake and it's not looking good. Pray for the firefighters they they don't get trapped up against the lake.

We have a cabin on the west shore also. My wife's great, great grandfather built it in 1927 and it looks to be smack-dab in the path of the fire. I think we'll know in the next 24 to 26 hours if it's saved or lost.

This is a crazy fire. I hope Almanor, Chester, Greenville, and Bucks Lake fare well against it. It grew 18,000 acres in the last 24 hours. Our friend came down yesterday from Chester and said most of the businesses are closed.

Sad to hear.....last time I was at Almanor it seemed the neighboring forests had been properly thinned.....

scary fire to say the last.
now a new fire that broke off from the Dixie fire, called the Fly fire is 1200 acres and 0% contained.

This could get ugly.
Prayers.

All of Quincy is under advisory except for the far western portion that is mandatory. Fly fire is under investigation.

Damn thing is making a run north, Greenville got evac orders again, and its jumped the lines to the west, heading toward 32/36, and 36/89 country, hope all stays safe in it's path.
Mike

Fire is approx 2.5 miles south of our cabin. Looks like the backfire may have slowed or stopped the fire so far. Hope it holds.

Fire map of the area of the Dixie fire for the last 3 years and footprints of the 3 major fires. For scale on the map its around 60 miles from Chico to the west shore of Lake Almanor.

West shore of Lake Almanor is under evacuation orders again. I sure hope there is some divine intervention to help keep these communities safe!

Just a stone's throw from my property at Canyon Dam. Keeping fingers crossed that conditions improve and fire lines hold. Most importantly hoping that all first responders can stay safe as they fight this fire. -----SS

I hope you guys get thru this without losing your homes. A kid from down the road is on the front lines of that fire.

I dont believe I’ve ever been here. Is it a stand of big ponderosa’s Where the homes are?

Our cabin is surrounded by Doug fir and sugar pines. The sugar pines get ridiculously tall too. We have one next to the cabin that has to be 150+ feet tall.

This photo was taken today at 2:30 with an IR camera on mount Dyer. It shows the west shore from Almanor West to Hwy 36. My cabin is close to the white dot.

As of last night, it looks like Greenville and parts of Chester were on fire. I pray for all of the families that have lost everything because of this fire.

Yes they are showing pics of the fire in Chester and Greenville not good my ole friend used to live in Chester but from what I saw there is not much left of certain portions of both cities

Canyon dam went last night too, this thing is headed toward Susanville/ Janesville on the eastern flank, its wrapped around Chester and into the Lassen park on the north end headed toward 44. Clean out to Deer creek lodge country on 36 on the far western edge. It's eat some country, god help all in its path.
Mike

Based on this image from 8 hrs ago the fire got within 400 yards of our cabin. Since this was taken I'm not sure if the fire has moved any closer or has burned down. The Plumas Pines Resort was still standing as of 8 hrs ago too and that is 150 feet from our place. Crazy if the cabin makes it after it burned so much country. As of today it's the 3rd largest fire in CA history, but by tomorrow it'll easily surpass the Mendocino Complex fire in 2018 and be the 2nd largest fire in CA!!

is that the peninsula you look at??

or...peninsula to the right...Chester to the left??
Peninsula and chester are off to the right in that photo. Peninsula is about 90 degrees to the right and chester is less than that to the right.

Fire went through our place out in Warner Valley. Reports I have says only 19 places out of approximately 100 + made it though. And some of those are with some damage.
We keep our place clean as far as pine needles and underbrush goes and always take down any dead trees. Unfortunately not everyone up there does. ? All we can do is hope and pray.

You guys wouldn't believe the smoke in Utah from that fire.

This morning I was sure Antelope Island had to be on fire with the super thick smoke and burning tree smell. Weather guy says it's mostly from you guys.

Unbelievable

I sure hope your place survived the fire, my place is still there as of now on the west shore. As one that spends a great deal of time in the forests around Almanor its going to be sad for along time.

All those people from California who ran to Idaho and Utah didn't understand that it's hard to escape California. California will find you. :)

This is the view on the lake behind my cabin. I wonder what it will look like now.

Now that’s a view to wake up to every morning and enjoy a cup of coffee. Hope you place is still standing. These fires have been very destructive the last few years. I have said many times these last few years that Calif. should get a fleet of large bombers that have all the tech to fly at night and through the smoke to put these fires out ASAP. Instead we give out stimulus money so people can buy larger TV’s.

Here is a map showing heat signatures (sometimes takes a few seconds to load) It is updated couple times a day....x6a getting it for the 3rd year in a row. That sheep fire scar from last year should slow the NE movement in that area soon.

Here is a map that shows property damage assessments. There are some disclaimers, but it shows some specifics. Hope this helps:

Based on the damage assessment map, our cabin wasn't damaged. I have an ex-girlfriend that use to have a house in the Wolf Creek sub-division in Greenville and the fire destroyed half of the homes in her neighborhood, but her place survived. Crazy how close the fire got to some houses and missed them.

I have been lucky so far and our place at Almanor has survived the fire to this point. The fire burned into LAW on the southside around 5 days ago and entered in the westside 3 days ago. Three homes were destroyed in LAW and one garage burned down. The firefighters are still in there putting out hotspots. They did a great job saving the other 500 homes in LAW and Prattville.

As bad as it is, it’s great to hear that some of you folks have survived so far. I can’t imagine the pain that comes with a family loosing their home to a fire. Thanks for the update, I’ve been checking regularly for the last few days.

Hope the conditions continue to improve.

Next problem is dealing with smoke damage for the lucky ones who got through round one. Hope it all works out for you guys.

WOW that is amazing what a douche bag starting fires behind the firefighters. I always wondered if this was the case as the fires just started popping up in the same area.
I wonder if he had anything to do with the fires last year? If this is the guy I am glad they got him off the streets and if he is guilty well I would like it if the courts let the people who lost their homes and businesses to hand down the punishment. Won't happen but hey why not.......

Stay tuned.
Of seven incidents he was traced, via transmission of his "traced" vehicle".
Can they track him for last year? If he has seven I would imagine that there are more they don't know about.
What in the hell would possess a person to do such a thing?

Crazy World we live in

What in the hell would possess a person to do such a thing?
Probably several options. He could just be a fire bug who gets off on fire and the havoc it creates. He could just like to see the destruction knowing he's the one who caused it and gets away with it and he's toying with law enforcement. He could be angry at someone and wants to get back the cowardly way. Being college educated, he could think he's doing something to drive home the importance of global warming. Or it could be a combination of any of the above.

Hope that helps.... :)

Fire is 517,945 acres, (809 sq. miles) it's got across A-21 north of Westwood, is headed toward the town, and across 36 headed south toward the golf course/ peninsula, the east side is headed into Antelope lake country and the north-west farther into the park. Feel for all in it's path, be safe boys.

Dang, get that sucker up out. In the mean time, you folks be careful. Wish there was something we could do for y’all. We

Looks to be 554,816 acres this am, (867 sq. miles) ..... still 31% contained, looks like they are holding the lines at the golf course on the peninsula, and at Westwood. The fire is around the west side of Antelope lake now. Be safe boys.

Finally got confirmation that my place is gone. 3 outbuildings, 3 house trailers and a 40’x40’ deck all gone and nothing but ashes.
I’ve been out in the Nevada desert hunting archery antelope with my son (his tag) to try and forget about it. What else is a fella to do. ?‍♂️
