The "guide", owner, whoever he is was defending another awful video on another thread in the elk forum. This comment captured the whole thing for me "If you really want to know who I am and what I am about, go on fb, find a Utah hunting page, mention my name and that I am some idiot outfitter that doesnt know what I'm doing or talking about."
His "reality" is virtual. In his mind the best way to really know him is to go to some random Utah Hunting facebook page and make a snarky comment about him and see all of his followers come to his defense.
Not "I'll take you to coffee and we can chat", not "call these people that I have guided" not "talk to this business owner in my town" but essentially he's saying that the people that know him best, are the people that watch all his videos and check out his pictures, but have never met him.
When it's all about the Likes and Follows, it doesn't really matter that you gut shoot a tiny bull and say he'll just be sore for a few days or take a ridiculous shot and miss by 5 feet or are irresponsible in how you/your client shoots a Goat. As long as you have your followers, you are important, knowledgeable, an expert, etc.
What a weird place this world is becoming...
...And as I write this comment, I am perpetuating the very internet culture that I am ranting against...
