Connection/Info About Ekalaka Area

Hey all. My son and I are heading to the Ekalaka area this November. Over thanksgiving. Last year we had a good hunt out of Broadus and have a few starting points. We were able to fill our buck tags last year but not our Doe Whitetail.

This year my son really wants a whitetail buck. Does anyone have any pointers? Landowner connections? Or suggestions. We typically find areas that are roadless and walk in 2-3 miles etc. not finding many such area that in the SE of MT. But at any rate if you have anything that might help, we would appreciate it… My sons buck from last year was a 3.2 mile one way hike…

FYI this is most likely our last MT trip simply because he will be old enough to hunt in WY next year. We are only going as a result of the mentor program allowing him to hunt under age 12

Congratulations to him! Glad to see either way if he is or is not hunting montana that he is taking up hunting and hunting in multiple states. It’s definitely super important to get the children into the game and especially early on.

Yes with out a doubt. My daughter was in the game but now she is almost 15 and not in the game. Lol she goes hunting but it is really really low on her priority list. I am certain things will change for her, and she will be back. But for my son he is definitely a go getter and would hunt all day everyday if he could.
