Why the hate?

Im from Utah and I've hunted deer and bear in Idaho for 20+ years and never had a bad experience with anyone from Idaho while hunting. Actually just the opposite. Friendly and even helpful. Made several very good friendships over the years.

Long time ago, a feller would have to decide which of his dozen or so wives he was keeping, and had to get rid of the rest.

So he'd keep the young, pretty one, and sent the old dry, snaggletooths up the road.

Most went north, and along with them went the genetics of cousin breeding.

When your a few pages short of a coloring book thanks to your great grandma/aunt/sister it creates envy and hostility.

I think it's the other way around but Idahoes are extremely jealous of Utahns because the average I.Q. of Utahns is 20 points higher than those in Idaho.?

20? Wow - didn't think it was even that high.

I’ve been wondering this for a while and have yet to find a answer, why do Idahoans hate Utahns so much?

Probably because [some] Utahns think they hover above water...

The reality is, a few guys on here complain. That doesn't mean that everyone in Idaho complains, in fact, about everyone on this site complains about non-residents. Just read a post about a NV guy complaining, Wyoming guys are carrying on as well. Californians are always a target, but my experience has been mostly positive. We have a dwindling resource, and more demand than ever. It's bound to happen. Turns out, some of the "Idahoans" on here complaining were not even born here. Take the complaining for what it's worth, just about nothing.

This in a nut shell, though not your intent, settles the I.Q debate. How stupid do you have to be to want more then one wife? Think about that for a minute.,.

I’ve just heard of Utahns getting there tires slashed while they were out hunting up there, which is probably just a case of a old fudd thinking that spot belongs to him but still have to ask why.

Years ago, I had received permission (from the land owner) to hunt Pheasants in a sweet little canyon with grain fields on both sides. It was the noon opener. Had my 12 year old boy with me and he was just starting to really get into hunting. About 11:20 we started hearing shooting down the canyon. Eventually the pheasant hunters got to us (still before noon) They walked up to my truck (Utah plates) and started with the F N Utah hunters this and F N that… Go back to your state, right to my face. It was ugly. My kid was so turned off (and frightened) by it. We just pulled out and went to another spot.

My Brother In-Law was a car dealer in Idaho. I started borrowing a set of Idaho dealer plates for our hunts and our whole world changed. It went from flip offs to friendly waves.

IMO, I think some of this goes on in most states... I have also met a lot of friendly resident hunters in several states…

From the state that gave us Mitt Romney… yeah… I.Q’s must be soaring down there
I used to say Mitt Romney was the biggest disgrace to Utah since the Mountain Meadow massacre but he has gone way beyond that now.
You can thank the Utah women's green jello coalition (relief society) for getting Pierre elected (I didn't say all Utahn's have a high I.Q. but compared to Idaho our averages are still higher which isn't saying much?). He moves wherever he can find opportunity. Michigan and Massachusetts had a gutful and Utah was his last chance to stay politically relevant. Sadly enough they will probably re-elect him. He needs to retire, stay home and take care of his handicapped wife.

The only hostility I've ever experienced while hunting was in Summit County, UT.

I was 18, hunting on some land of a family friend. My friend shot his first deer that morning, within view of a country road. Two locals spotted us gutting the deer and came over to kick us off the land. I was pretty scared they were going to get physical with us... I pointed out my family's trailer just down the canyon, next to the landowner's home. Suddenly, they were our best friends and couldn't have been happier for us... I'd bet money neither one of them have showered to this day. :ROFLMAO:

Simple, we all hate Utahns because the fire bull and leaving deer you shot over bait out all night for a better picture in the morning .

And I'm from CA

Look. I agree.

BUT 2/3 of Hush is not from Utah. We got enough problems, don't pin more on us

We got Mitt, you have Larry Craig
and I'm pretty sure Caitlyn Jenner is moonlighting as Janice McGeachin.

Utahns jump the border into Eastern Nv to shoot the coyotes for bounties. Run into those plates quite regularly. In the North part of Nevada, we are told by F&G wardens to log Idaho license plates on our side of the border. Apparently some of them like to hunt our side with their tags. Don't know if its reciprocated on their side or not.

Honestly the most respectful hunters I've run into out in the hills are Californians. The biggest, most disrespectful @$$holes I've run into are sporting Nv plates. We do have a lot of transients due to the mining industry, so who's to say where they are from. We have a lot of trash out in them thar hills for sure.

Didn’t you guys also conceive the likes of shed crazy and a plethora of self proclaimed shed hunters that influence the western states to create shed seasons? Wasn’t the flat brim invented in SLC?

Obviously I’m half kidding around with you : )

No. Your right.

Shed crazy came from Chesser encouraging that dude to become a you tuber. I think I heard he was a school janitor.

Chesser is the source of all evil.

Hush, firebull, ear tucked in hat.

Don't forget we also have the MTN OPS clowns too

I saw Jenner on YouTube recently. Some talk show. Someone said something Jenner didn't like and Jenner asked him if he'd like to leave there in an ambulance? He was serious too and I believed him.

It would be tough to get beat up by a wo-man your friends would never let you live it down

When I sold my home in Calgary, Alberta, the realtor brought a potential buy over to see the house.

The potential buy was standing in my living room, he said the realtor, “So…….how friendly are the people in this neighborhood?”

The realtor, looked him right square in the eye and said, “well………how friendly are the people in the neighborhood you live in now?”

The guy said, “we can’t wait to get out of there, that’s why we’re moving…….

The realtor said, “the people in this neighborhood pretty much keep to themselves”.

Who gives a flying **** what people think of “your” state? I mean if you live in Utah by choice you’re already focked up anyhow

And YOU are grateful we live here…….. it’s a miserable existence ………. PLEASE……spread the word.

Mormons control everything. Restricted liquor laws. Unenforced polygamy. Empty deserts. Fly infested salt water. Over priced, over rated, under managed rat infested ski resorts. Most confusing, worst designed Interstate highways. Lowest funding per student schools in the Nation. Rudest drivers in the Nation. Wreckless 80 mile per hour speed limits. Crazy high State taxes. Major cities as well as small towns have excessively high crime rates. Rank high in the worst State to retire. Historical low wages. Always one of the quickest States to experience hyper inflation. Total gridlock for 100 miles along the Wasatch Front. Total desolation from the Wasatch Front to the Arizona border. No lottery’s. No race horse betting tracks. No casinos. Draconian private schools for wayward children from wealthy non-residents. Capital of multi marketing scams. Most wildlife poachers per capital in the lower 48 States. No wild northern wolves allowed. No grizzly bears. No whitetail deer. Most rapidly declining mule deer herds in the modern world. The worst Republican Senator in modern history. Most famous food is Fry Sauce. Restricted by Right To Work Laws. Climate….sweltering heat, followed by bitter cold, both always accompanied by screaming canyon winds. Half the State is forested by worthless juniper trees, the other half with decadent sage brush. Interstate I-70 proudly term “cocaine alley. To name a few things you’ll have to live with you were to move here.

Shocking percentage rate of bankruptcies.

It we were a country, the State Department will list us as a declining third world country and class us as “restricted travel” zone.

Best to allow us to wallow here, alone, living in our misery……..

That’s too long of a post to read regarding Utah. If you can break it up into 10 posts I’ll likely r—- oh look a butterfly!

Oh Chuck-A-Rama with out a doubt is a famous Mormon place to eat! Don't count out the Beaver, Utah cheese and the best of all----Maddox Ranch House in Bringham City! The Morman corridor not only has great food but a massive amount of football talent. We went 2 all of these places back in the late 80's traveling 2 away games.

Wizard--Chuck-A-Rama! Man, I haven't thought about that for a long, long azz time!! Does Utah still have em?

I have seen them in St George...that is the one we usually hit and then there is one on University Ave in Provo on the way to Deer Creek. Never been to that one but we absolutely love the one in St George.

We have eaten at a Taco Time and needed to stop on the other side of Deer Creek Res to release some tension....if you know what I mean. We won't be frequenting Taco Time ever.

Man...never heard that....you can't just eat the pizza, son.....expand your pallet. :)
Compared to the best buffets I’ve ever eaten at, Chuck O’ Rama is fair to good. Golden Coral is hardly eatable. Taco Time is total swill.

For the last twenty years, in south central Utah we’ve had some good, hidden, little, back road cafes, in five or six of our little back road towns, little like towns with 2 or three hundred residents…… in the last 3 years every single one of them have gone to new owners and the meals are mostly terrible. Hell, you can’t even get a decent fried egg and hash browns at Fish Lake anymore. It takes special talent to completely ruin breakfast but all these new owners have got it figured out. ?

I think they murdered good country food when they murdered country music.

Best just hurry on through……

What was that Sage Restaurant that you sent my Dad and I to after the elk hunt?....that was good food along with the place we went to there on the main drag. I agree with you that newer places try to get a bit fancy when all they need to do is keep it simple.

Sage Brush Grill…….. good food…… but not good enough to move here……. Just saying……..not near good enough to live here by choice…….

Now, Idaho and Montana…… nirvana. No sales tax in Montana, whitetailed deer. Cheap beer, and all you can drink. Easy freeway access. Great schools. Hardly any Mormons. Thriving big game. Curious drivers. Friendly women. 99% cell service. Cheap rent. Untouched wilderness, lush pine forests. Spectacular fishing. Check it out…….. you’re gonna love it there……promise.

I have heard the little restraunt in Koosharem has new ownership, wondering how there food has faired?

Guns, grub and girls, it’s all an individual’s preference.
To a point Bigfoot, to a point……. SS! can see through it and I’m duty sworn to confirm or refute the facts……… individual preferences in Utah are, to quote him, “if you live in Utah by choice you’re already focked up”. Why would anyone want to willingly choice guns, grub, or girls from here?

The countries full of great opportunities and inspiring options …….. folks should deficiently take SS! seriously and choice to live else where………. not worth the risk.

I’d suggest you re-read my comment regarding the cafes in the five or six small towns………. but like Bigfoot said…… “Guns, grub and girls, it’s all an individual’s preference.” so I will add this, just to help clarify: Your experience may be different, because past performance is no guarantee of future results.

This ain’t “TripAdvisor” but let us know what you think after your next visit.

Also, the pizza place in Koosharem has reopened this year, same owners but new menu, no breakfast, opens at 11:00 for lunch. Let me say this, about that…….. we’re all gonna miss Tina and her Dad……..a lot!

Don’t forget the beautiful view of the wasatch, smog and all.

It’s too late lumpy, Utah is at max capacity and more are pouring in…

All true, per usual SS! I certainly appreciate you doing your part…….

And……..keep up the excellent work…….

I’ve recommended your work to the “Utah Unground” They’re always on the look out for folks with well developed “skills”. Not all their staff came from Preston, Idaho.

Regardless, being “at max capacity” isn’t a problem for select individuals, our morality rate here is off the charts, with our raging fentanyl, cocaine, and meth additions and all. So we can always squeeze good talent in, if you like. However, continuing to work from your home is still acceptable , if you prefer.

Let me know when you get a half second.

Don’t forget the high housing prices. And the fact they built the hub of their community next to a big lake that they can’t drink out of.

Utah, worse than Mexico.

Many, many years ago, I stopped at the Thunderbird on 89 in Mt. Carmel Junction & ate in the restaurant. I ordered the chicken & dumplings, and it was absolutely delicious. I've tried to duplicate it several times with no success.

Sorry……… this thread is now about how “focked up” Utah is ODC……. let’s see if we can’t focus…….. some meal you ate in Utah 40 or 50 years ago……. you haven’t been able to duplicate any close to that, as you’ve clearly discovered. The message is: don’t come here, we’re focked up. Idaho, Montana, North Dakota, Washington, Oregon, California……….. all way way way better than Utah.

There, I finally came right out and said it……I’m done for now. I’ve got to boil some water for dinner tonight.
