WY task force NR fee increase

Not true...at all, other than the mule deer hunting.

Deny it all you want, but I had it way better in 1987 as a high school graduate and more opportunities than the class of 2022....and I've more than proven it.
I wish I was wrong about the mule deer hunting.

Why do people come from all over the world for advance medical treatment in the US? The elderly are really going to get the short end of the stick when the US transitions to "Medicare for all". At least grandma's sacrificed in not getting certain medical treatments will result in less bankruptcy.
Because they don't, and no the elderly won't get the short end of the stick.

When was the last time you saw a Swede or Norwegian traveling to the US for healthcare?

I do have a friend who he and his wife traveled to Canada for lasik eye surgery.

They took a week off work, did a miny vacation, both had lasik for less all in, than they would have paid for one of them in the States.

Isn't that curious?

Who knows what great technologies may be developed to improve quality of life. It is yet to be seen if 2022 is a better time to graduate high school. I would agree that the 1st 5 or 10 years out of high school may not be easy for those graduating in 2022.

1987 would have been a great year to graduate after "Regan Economics" helped fix the economy but I'm guessing you don't believe that.

Union busting and wage cuts for mill workers under Reagan. Which is another curious thing beings how Uncle Ronnie was president of the screen actors guild union...when he actually had to work for a living.

Things change when you don't have to grind it out with the peasants.

The elderly will almost certainly get the short end of the stick with "Medicare for All". There simple isn't enough healthcare resources to provide the baby boomers with all the medical treatments that would be available. The government will have to ration care.

Litigation is a big reason healthcare is more expensive in the US. If there were complication from their surgery in Canada, I'm guessing they wouldn't get a huge settlement like you can get in the US. I'm guessing tort reforms will get left out of the law when "medicare for all" is passed. The extra expense of malpractice will just get passed onto the taxpayer.

According to who?

The same gdamn insurance companies that privatize profits for those under 65 and socialize the losses under Medicare when things get expensive for health care?

You're getting lied to, do some research.

Oldest trick in the corporate play book. Privatize profits, socialize losses.

It's unbelievable how gullible people are.

The surgery is done by the same machine in both countries and darn near fool proof. What litigation is there to worry about?

Why don't you ask your friends in Canada how long the wait is for a simple cataract procedure.

I'll make it easy for you, since it is public data.

I'm guessing your insurance is a factor in you waiting two months. Private insurance companies will cause long wait times as well. You and I could probably agree that insurance companies use tricks like this to decrease their expenses.

I know doctors that pay more than $100K for malpractice insurance. That cost is passed to the patient. Even you have to admit that litigation in the US is one of the factors we have much higher healthcare costs than anywhere else in the world.

I would agree that complications from LASIK are rare.

I'm arguing that if there was less medical litigation in the US, then the cost of healthcare would be less. For profit healthcare systems are arguably a much larger factor in skyrocketing healthcare costs. People that don't pay their bills are a major factor in high healthcare costs. There is a good reason why ER bills are so high. Many people that go to the ER don't pay their bill, so those that do pay their bill have to make up for all those who do not.

This thread went completely off topic.

At least you and I can agree that mule deer hunting opportunities were much better in the 1960's than they have been the last 10 years.

Again you're not being honest. How many minorities and women are CEO's of fortune 500 companies?

Why is it women STILL make less for the same exact work as a man? Same skills, same education...yet get paid less.

You honestly believe there is equal opportunity at high paying jobs?

That's pure B.S. based on facts and reality.

The problem with Union reps. Almost no one has "the same skills, same education......."to start with. Unions only recognize seniority, not ability.

Second, what are the percentages of women roughnecks? Crab fishermen? Sheetrockers, block masons?

So if you take out the vast majority of blue collar jobs, that women DONT want or won't do, you are left with a smaller pool flooded with workers, thus keeping wages low.

Second. Government workers and bankers think in terms of 40 hour weeks.

Last, as it pertains to hunting. There's a reason NR was pretty rare even just 20yrs ago. It is expensive. Wyoming will push until they find a spot where they lose revenue. Until then, this is the reality. If you don't like it, stop applying. When enough do, they will slow it down.

On the OP's original topic, the only positive potential aspect of this change is it increases the likelihood of changing the license allocation at some point in the future. Doesn't guarantee it but makes it more likely.

On the side argument taking place, some are confusing equality of opportunity with equality of outcome. Two very different things. Equality of opportunity is a noble endeavor. Equality of outcomes is a fools errand and a pipe dream of the SJW's. Measuring equality of opportunity by the percentage of women CEO's is nonsense.

Equality of opportunity is a pipe dream.

And all though not every single company is required to be a equal opportunity employer most are and are required to follow those guidelines. I don't buy into the left wing poor me bull crap. There's a reason why people come from all around the world for the opportunity to work and live here

This is getting way off topic but where do women work that do the exact same job as men and get paid less buzz?
It doesn't exist and has been wildly discounted many times over. No matter how many studies show this is a misleading statement it gets trotted out over and over.

When controlled for position, seniority, hours worked, etc. it is shown to be a gap of 2% or less. Coincidentally, the same gap that exists in the control group in the article posted earlier about the race based wage gap. That 2% gap could be for any number of reasons, one of which could be discrimination. Could also be any one of a dozen other reasons.

HAHA. Buzz you are hilarious. The women's pay gap is a myth and a talking point in politics only. The reason for the wage gap is based on much more than just gender.

When you look at everything you will find the following lead to a smaller pay gap, and the reason why you see less women as CEOs etc.

Women are less aggressive in the market place. They are less likely to seek new opportunity, they are less likely to ask for a raise and are hesitant to go after promotions.

Women are significantly less likely to risk a new job. They have a hard time jumping ship from their current employer to a new employer. They are more emotionally tied to their job then men are...

Women typically have lower experience and less time in the job force. They are more likely to have gaps in employment... When you account for all factors the Wage gap disappears.

Same is true of minorities when you adjust for all factors the pay gap is nonexistent...

As for kids graduating high school. There is incredible opportunity. Any kid who actually wants to work can make a hell of a living. In many cases they get their employers to pay entirely for training and school while doing it. I have students who are not old enough to buy beer driving a company truck making $80,000 a year with full benefits and if they stay with the company for 2 years they get 100% of their schooling reimbursed. This company offers this opportunity to 10 people a year, at most they only have 3 actually do it. By the time the kid is 25, they will be making $100,000 a year...

I know several programs like this and in the last 10 years have had a handful of students do such... Sorry but the opportunities are there and with the current labor market, it is very easy to say that today is as good as ever if not better...

Good thing only 10 kids graduate high school a year in the U.S.

Payscale certainly tries very hard to explain why an almost nonexistent gap could be misleading and we all might be way more misogynistic and racist than the data suggests.

We all knew you were a Dem, but now you’re showing us that you’ve gone full libtard. I know a white dude who scored well on his MCAT test but didn’t get a shot at Med school because he wasn’t a minority. If he was a woman or minority and had those scores he could have written his own ticket (and watched as some did). Instead he had to wait it out and take the test 2 more times over 3 yrs to get in. At the end of the day who do you want as your physician, pilot, train conductor, attorney, police officer, fireman…the most qualified for the job or the one who checks the right box to make them a more “diverse” candidate. Don’t answer-we know the left wing company line.
NR elk tags in WY shouldn’t be priced at affordability based on the pay of a minimum wage worker. If they can get 2k for them I guess that’s capitalism in action. If it’s a priority in life for someone then I am sure they have the ability to make it happen.

I don't believe your story...its always someone's friend that uses that as an excuse because they didn't make the cut. So predictable.

Nearly as predictable as being labeled a left wing libtard because you happen to care about someone else other than yourself. Or pointing out that the US isn't, in fact, number 1 in many categories that are important to the Citizens.

As to the price of an elk tag, if we're going to go full capitalism then why not just start auctioning off all NR tags to the highest bidder?

I contend that the NAM needs to be a consideration, in particular if we're going to go around waving that big giant foam #1 hand about how its the best wildlife management system in the world. You either adhere to the tenets of that model, one of which is to keep wildlife accessible to all, or you toss it out the window and go full on capitalism. We can't pretend that the NAM model matters, while defying the tenets...its pure hypocrisy.

IMO, the cost of a license should reflect the costs of operating the GF department and on the cost of proper management. Don't forget, wildlife is a public trust asset, not a private affair to maximize profit. Prices should not be increased as a way to make sure Sy Gilliland and Lee Livingston have clients. Clients that they don't even have to work to get.

But, I guess since I'm a left wing libtard, who happens to be able to afford hunting anything I want, anywhere I choose to go, I should just worry myself with me.

Things like this are huge advantage to me personally. Maybe you're right, why worry about anyone else, it makes things easier for me.

Well, it’s a true story. It’s a family member who is now a radiologist (MCAT score was the same the 3x he took the test). You probably don’t believe it because you have no insight on the process to get into Med school, and because it’s ridiculous to give preference to people for a career based on race instead of ability. But it’s reality. Here is a source with graphs and everything for you…What is predictable is the mindset of a liberal, all cut from the same piece of cloth, and can’t accept reality.
If elk have to be “affordable” then why not sheep, bison, moose?

All I know is this country stared going to chit when that terrorist George Washington started his uprising. The nail in the coffin was when we started letting women enter the work place.

Our grandfathers let them out of the kitchen and look where we are now.

There will be sheep, moose and bison tags that are more affordable than an elk tag in Wyoming.

Happy now?

Typical Dem, when confronted with facts look the other way, it would be a tragedy to agree with reality…Anyways, I could care less what a NR special elk tag is priced at, if it’s important to me I will make it a priority. And of course a ewe/cow tag should be priced less than a ram/bull tag.

Oh, and the standard KUIU outer and underwear. Could you imagine being able to shoot a deer while wearing anything else? Almost impossible.
No wonder I don't kill more deer! I don't own anything that says KUIU on it! I do have a pair of Duluth Trading Company socks that I bought with a Christmas gift certificate. That should count for something!!
:ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

Oh goodness, did I just laugh at something from SS!

I've got a couple of college buddies that come elk hunting every few years with me. Always General. They would pay the special fee when it was needed but I think it is safe to say they would not pay $2000. Both of them can afford it but neither would feel it was a responsible use of $2000 when they have families. Part of the equation is also desire. I don't think either of them is dyed in the wool elk hunter but they enjoy it when they can. Safe to say its regular draw from here on out for them.

If I pay $2000 you’ll never post on MM again? We already know you’re gone from the ‘slide.
Don’t trust him! He can’t help himself- probably would just change his username to BuzzKill and keep right on where he left off! Then he’d take ur $2K and spend it on a nonresident tag in a state you want to hunt- thus decreasing your odds. Or worse- donate it to “Wolves Lives Matter” or some such org. Tragedy for sure…

Your feelings get hurt easily. You should stick to rokslide or as you call it the ‘slide…
No hurt feelings, reading buzz tell everyone how wonderful he is and how stupid they are is pretty insufferable though. I am guessing I could probably easily raise the $2000 to make the internet a better place for all.

Ok, I have been doing outdoors stuff and I am late to this thread.

#1 in the video with the lady drilling the bank CEO, am I the only one that wanted him to say " Well it is obvious her baby maker works, shouldn't she go find a sugar daddy?"

#2 are we so desperate to display our intelligence that we turn a thread about elk tag increases in Wyoming into a social discussion on minimum wage, health care, single moms and the cost of housing? Let's leave the poor decisions up to the politicians.

#3 if raising the special tag price is really about generating more income for fish and game while slowing demand, why not create a auction style system to determine what actual tag value is. Say there are 50 tags. Hunters can bid what they are willing to pay for a tag. Top 50 are in and you know all along if you in the running so you can increase your bid up until the deadline. Now this is only for the special tags. Regular tags would remain affordable. We do not want to take the opportunity away from a single mom that wants to fit a cow in her minivan

There's really nothing to talk about here unless you're a resident. nobody gives a FF what a NR has to say, these guys are just having fun with you don't feed the bear.

Pay up or find another hobby that's where this is headed. vote for leaders who protect publics lands or it ends even faster.

They do. My better half was an RN for the well known Cleveland Clinic for 37 years before she retired 3 years ago. They get many patients that fly here from other countries to have their children and then fly home after. Their cardiac care unit has sections of the main campus strictly for patients from other countries. My cousins wife is a physician there as well.

My mothers sister had to have a kidney removed in Luxembourg many years ago and they removed the good kidney and left the bad one. She passed away a few years ago but struggled with the bad kidney for many years. Her daughters husband had to have hip replacement surgery and he went to Germany yo have it done. Their not that good either but they were able to do it after waiting 11 months. His came out ok.

I qualified for Medicare this year. We both have clinic insurance. Mine is my back up ( Part C) to Medicare and hers is her primary since she is only 62. Her employee retirement plan coverage is very good. I could give you a great example as to why but that’s another discussion

I Wouldn’t want any other countries health insurance or access to health care. Granted I have limited knowledge of some but not all. My experience here and in three other countries with family tells me our current system in many areas is very good. Hope it doesn’t change.

Well Buzz, if it was you in my mothers sister shoes, I am sure your laughing would be non-existent.

Thankfully we still have a choice in our country so we can make educated decisions. But this is off topic and I apologize to the other participants in this discussion and will move on.

Stupid people didn’t like being called out for being stupid and they cried to the playground cops.
In other words, they got tired of dealing with a drama queen.

How many places has he now been banned?

Buzz obviously cares deeply about spreading his message on social media, but some how he can’t keep his act together enough to avoid being kicked off the largest western hunting website? It seems to me he can’t get out of his own way.

If it risks people not contributing to WY game and fish’s annual revenue, residents can’t cover the budget , it won’t pass regardless of the task force, that will cause a pretty good pile of people to walk away from Wyoming, so yea doubt it , mark my words.

No one will walk away if they object to the price of special, they will apply in regular. Any unscribed licenses in the special draw will roll into regular. If this causes a budget problem, which I doubt, regular NR prices will be raised to compensate. You're way off on this one.

We’ll see , every one has their outlook on what’s going to unfold, too much is too much , talking about walking away completely, yea that’s residents dream !!! But all in all be a catastrophe for the revenue because 25% of hunters are serious enough to spend that kind of coin , like I said we will see

No offense, but you really don't grasp Wyoming's NR license allocation. Every NR tag that sells now, will still sell.

I won’t lie I don’t know the ins and out to the T , it might sell out in the near future but I think it’ll trend on the downward slope , I just think eventually when cost far out weighs realistic opportunity it’s could Collapse NR revenue, please explain your logic, and I’m not being a smart a**

Read #172, again.

It is interesting that they raised the deer and antelope specials. The high demand units will continue to sell out, but those that were partially selling will likely see decreases due simply to decreased demand.

From a dollar perspective, I'm betting it's a wash on deer and antelope- less sold licenses but higher fees. Elk will be sold out almost entirely even with higher fees, so higher revenue there.

Honestly, if folks think Wyoming is in for some sort of revolt against hunting in the state, I think they are going to be disappointed.

I don’t think it would be a revolt, everyone loves Wyoming , just simply walking away because people can’t swing 1200-2000 for a d/E/A hunt , so I scrolled back and if I understand this right regular will remain close to where its at now ? Or is that I. Line for an increase as well ?

The way I think about Buzzh is, I may not like the delivery but the message usually rings true.

As Bob said, since he was banned on Rokslide no one posts this type of stuff. This is what is important not arguing if you’re sitka camo top will clash with your kuiu pants.
