Archery or ML 131-134 reports?

I had a Muzzy tag, scouted heavily and turned it back. Unit has very few mature deer. My general Utah archery tag yielded older class bucks than 13 to put it into perspective.

Pretty bad I thought people were being sissy’s last year complaining but my dad had one of the 5 muzzy tags. He got rained out the first trip he went out. I went with my boy and him the third weekend and we saw 8 does. We didn’t hunt hard just glassing from the road but you can usually turn up quite a few deer in that country. I was glad that ndow cut tags thinking they were acting proactively but as usual it’s reactive. I’m thinking the herd in 131 is gutted. The deer numbers must be in the other 3 units. The 40 rifle hunters should focus on the other 3 units.

Couple big bucks came from that unit and it attracted the attention.of every outfitter and trophy hunter around.

Turns out the resource wasn't that substantial and it only took a few years to destroy it.

They are going to have to cut tags to almost nothing or nothing to bring it back.

Epic isn’t helping. They are still touting it as a top unit in the state. I’m on their list of tag holders and I had a few guys call me this year. When I was honest with them an one guy even really wanted to argue with me! “But it can’t be bad, I used 18 points and Epic says it’s great”! I get it, you pay for a service and want honest info. You aren’t getting it in this case. And now it’s even starting to show on the harvest stats. I wonder how bad it will have to get before we get something truthful rather than just regurgitated info of past glory days.

In contrast, HF is at least honest and more accurate in their assessment of the unit. “Population and trophy quality are way down in this unit”.

40 rifle tags in that unit is just bonkers. As bad as it is, it needs to be 5 or less.

There are actually 80 ALW tags in that unit group this year counting resident,
non-resident ,
resident juniors
and non-resident guided tags.
That’s still an extremely drastic cut from the last year’s quotas.

Absolute garbage overall. I would rather hunt the rubys and I’d surely find better trophy class deer than 13

Hunted it last year for 5 days and all I can say is WOW no deer let alone a mature buck. We have taken 3 really nice bucks out of this unit in the past. Couldn’t believe the downfall the last 5 years
