These pop ups are making realize I don't need to take up archery to get a tag. Next year just gonna plan on hunting October rifle via FCFS if I don't draw. That way I can already be mentally and physically prepared.

☝️My thoughts exactly. If I can pull off retiring at the end of the year I can just keep my truck and cargo trailer hooked up and ready to go!!
Just really need to know what units to are worth getting and which to avoid.

The difficult part is knowing or being prepared for WHAT UNIT tag comes up. Most of the time, the season will be starting within 10 days approx from when you get the tag off FCFS. It also has to do with how many points you currently have. I have 9 so I won't be burning them on a less than average tag....say a 10 tag that pops up.

Another super busy day today. All tags gone in seconds.

☝️Luckily I am in a waiting period for desert sheep. ??
With that said I still have not seen anything pop up when I am on. Given I only have an hour here, 30 minutes there. How much time in a day do you guys stare at the screen??

I am like you. Hour here hour there. Seen about 5-6 since August but I’m really not trying too hard. Family life has a lot of demands right now.

I’ve seen a few pop up. None of these hunts I really wanted, I am looking for a late hunt. My problem is by the time I see the tag and identify what it is and decide to add it to my cart it’s gone. So the only way to get a tag is who ever is the fastest to add to cart then decide if you want it or take the 7 day hit and let it go back into the system?
I think so since you have people like me that will be happy to hunt anywhere :D

Just got back from that hunt, wife had the tag. She killed here ewe yesterday. Haven’t tried any yet. Hopefully it’s tasty!

The ram I've eaten was not very good... Edible but I was dissapointed that I only had one package.

***wasn't

How hard is it to pick up a decent tag on here? Will be moving to Nevada around the first of the year. That should make me eligible for a resident tag around June? If so hoping to pick up a tag around then? What are my odds of grabbing something worth while?

If you archery hunt there’s a decent chance. Rifle hunts are a crapshoot.

If you make fcfs your only strategy and ignore applying in the draw you will likely hunt less.

he can't apply as a resident in April.........but he will have resident status for fcfs next year.....

If you work in front of a computer all day and can have the window up and are willing to check all night, you will get a FCFS tag. It’s about putting in the time. There were around 1K+ FCFS tags all together last year. That’s a lot of opportunities.

I plan to apply as well once I’m a resident. Yes I archery hunt. Is was just a thought as I will become a resident long after the draw next year.

New job will have a lot of screen time.

Where did you find those numbers? Do they post it somewhere? That seems like an extremely high number.

Anyone see that last elk tag that popped up a bit ago. I wasn't at my puter and all I saw was a flash of an elk picture before it took me back to the home page. Ugh.....

I did click, but with the hesitation, too late. It was maybe 5 seconds. I only have 2 elk points, but I still have to work, not retired yet, plus we have a family vacation planned over Thanksgiving week.

Could always make it a family hunting/camping trip. ??
My wife would be fore it if I dropped her off in a nice hotel so she could sew, read, and relax without the cold of winter camping. ??

Thanksgiving happens every year and you can get a new job after the season is over. A lot more jobs than there are elk tags of the kind…

:) Sounds good. But really, the timing is bad for me this year, it would lock me out of a a FCFS desert ram tag (one I would make more sacrifices for) this year, and it would lock me out of NV elk for the waiting period. I might not have clicked in time anyway, bit the few second hesitation made that certain. I have drawn elk tags of this caliber but odds are I die before drawing a desert ram tag.

so....are you saying that more people than Me, Wisz and Fullcry are watching for a ram tag?.....
