What is your favorite Base Camp Dinner Meals ?
I came up with French Dip with Provologne or Swiss cheese. I could make Beef Stew but looking to have my cousin impressed without having to cook too much. We will have a Camp Chef and Jet Boil also.

Of course, I always invite my guests to bring whatever they like for lunch/dinner. Never want to be labeled as pushy…….

When we hunted Idaho, we made a big pot of beans and ham. It would generally freeze at night so we could eat on it all week as needed/wanted. It kind of made for smelly sleeping in the tent though. That's when we hung the "No Farting In The Tent" sign.

Ha…….. make the rules and then fart. Sound a lot like Al Gore and John Kerry used to hunt with you eel.

I can't have beans. Wouldn't get within a half mile of Elk and I would be embarrassed to share my tent. I decided to .are some soup for two or three nights and can have the French Dip in between.
Planned on 3 days but if I haven't dropped one I might make it 5.
Can always have backstraps at night if I get in camp late with one. I enjoy watching Steven Rinella from Meat Eater cooking at his camps.

I like to cook a full Prime Rib, bone in, served with Twice Baked Potatoes, Caesar Salad, Fresh Cheesey Bread. Pure Horseradish is optional! And of course, a couple bottles of Cabernet. This is usually for 4 people. The extra Prime Rib is used for French Dip Sandwiches for the next few days.

I can’t figure out how to take green jello and cheesy potatoes…….. so I have to stay with the ribeyes……. Clearly I need better engineers on this deal.

home cooked spagetti in gallon zip locks reheated in hot water....
That is a good one
Homer. And garlic bread.
Here is my Spaghetti recipe-
1 1/2 cups chopped Green Pepper
1 1/2 cups chopped Onion
2 cups sliced Mushrooms
1/4 cup Olive Oil
1 lb 93% Lean Ground Hamburger
12 oz Stewed Toms
24 oz Tom Sauce
18 oz Tom Paste
1 tsp Garlic Powder
1/2 Teaspoon Oregano
1/4 Teaspoon Cumin
1/4 Teaspoon Thyme
1 Teaspoon Salt
3/4 Teaspoon Black Pepper
1 Teaspoon Chili Powder
1/2 Teaspoon Ground Cloves
1/2 cup Brown Sugar
2-3 Bay Leaves
Saute Veggies until tender and set aside. Brown burger and sausage. Add meat to veggies.
Add remaining ingredients and simmer covered for 90 minutes.
Remove Bay Leaves and serve over Spaghetti Noodles.

Green Jello on hunts sounds pretty bad. Cheesy potatoes are always good especially with Tobasco Sauce on top.

I was being sarcastic DM

It’s a “regional” thing here but mostly used when we bury our parents, not so much for our deer hunts. But…….. you know, we do weird stuff here……. so it could happen.

Think long and hard about relocating between Idaho and Arizona.

I know, so I was acting like I didn't know. I lived in Utah for 6 years lumpy.

Yep…. makes perfect sense.

You left then. Smart. Few escape.

Are you a part of the “Idaho Rehabilitation Society” now. I understand they have a impressive recovery rate for escapees.

French bread pizza:

Grab a loaf, split it open, pizza sauce from a pizza squirt-style bottle, add your toppings, cheese, cook in oven if you have a trailer or in a “rock oven” wrapped in foil if you have a fire pit.

Breakfast casserole: (prep at home)

Mix 6 raw eggs into a bag of hash browns
mix in diced, cooked bacon or sausage,
add 2 cups grated sharp cheddar cheese, add cup of swiss cheese
Add small container of cottage cheese
Dice up some cooked onions (preferably cooked in bacon grease from earlier) 1/2 cup or whatever strength you enjoy.

Cook at home in 13x9 dish at 350 degrees for roughly 40 min. Check for golden brown crust around edges. then cut into serving size, freeze and reheat on the mountain. Add a little salt and pepper or your favorite hot sauce and enjoy.

Here’s another of my favorites:

Hope this one doesn’t get me in trouble the Friends of Whole Foods.

A good sized pot of salted briskly boiling water, but you could use scrub oak and grill it. Simply place a Maine lobster in the pot of water or spread it out on the grill over the hot scrub oak coals. Before you can heat frozen lasagna, it’s ready to dip in hot garlic butter.

I understand the Upper Crustations prefer it over McDonald BigMacs as well.
