WY General ELK 2023 - Need 2 guys with 1-1.5 pt avg.

I have 10 WY elk points going in to 2023.

Looking for TWO guys that want in on my WY 2023 elk group app. If your two-some EACH has 1 point, we would be 12/3, for a 4.0 average. 4.0 points might be tight, but that might be enough for gen-regular in 2023? Alternately, if you have 3 points between the two of you, we would be 13/3 for 4.33 average and I believe 4.10 or better will do it for gen-regular this year.

PM me offers and include a screenshot of your points page from WGF

Please post publicly here if this chafes you.

He is asking for offers so I suspect there is a monetary catch involved but who knows.
Possibly and good for him. 3 points each guy is a chunk of change that they would have to pay anyways… so. Instead of paying the state they pay him… who is only getting back what he paid the state…

I think I paid $75 and one year of my life for each point. So, there’s that. I’d probably give special consideration to any offer that gave me those years of life back if you can make that happen.
I don't think camping or hunting together is what I had in mind but if it worked out that could be great. I would be hunting my gen-elk tag solo (archery and likely return for rifle; at least 9 days each). South/SW WY gen elk unit(s) TBD. Private land access could be cool, but not terribly interested in guide/lodging. I'd rather matchmake with some other DIY guy(s) but I know there are some quasi-professionals who specialize in this type of match-making on a larger scale.

Trading intel amongst friends is always fun, but not key here.

I'm thinking GEN is the way to go, but I'd listen to anyone with 16+ points that might want to paid up on a 13-ish point type of tag.

I went with an offer. If you look at it like I kept 4.5 points and sold 5.5, then I probably got about $175/point. Hopefully that helps the rest of you set up sensible groups.

To me, $175/point seems reasonable considering time value of money and the fact that points can't be bought years later (generally).

Fingers crossed for 4.5 points being near 100% for WY-GEN-REG in 2023. (full refund if we don't draw of course)

But I wouldn't blame a guy for paying more than $175/point in today's environment. At zero points, buying in to a 4.5 pt group would put your all in WY elk cost similar to the MT big game combo tag. And still well under the upcoming $1948 WY special tag.

And from my perspective, I get out of the WY-elk 10 point no-man's land.

4.5 will draw the general - especially now that the price increase didn't pass.

how many points do you think it will take to pull a general tag this year?

4 in the regular won't be 100%. My advise is always to party if you can swing it when doing general so you get up off the full number point groups. 4.6667 is gonna be a whole lot better than 4.0000

He applied in the regular... that was only 12.34% last year with over 3. Took 4 to be 100%. I think he is ok at 4.5 but we will see.

3.7500 was 100% in the regular last year
27 out of 82 drew at 3.6667

What am I missing?

Or is this report wrong?

Edited- I understand now. You must have a report with a lot more detail. Must have been 51 people with 3.75.

WY rounds to 4 decimal places. They format the report to save space.
You're missing all the point groups between the even numbered groups (post #21 above shows an example).
You also don't have the draw database that will show where success/unsuc point level is.

Is that report available to the public anywhere online?

Yep
Steve at toprut gets the database and shows all point groups for WY; free for onx elite members. Maybe $25 for non onx?

It will be interesting to see what it ends up taking with all the 90/10 chatter. I’m guessing around 4.5 but there’s lots of moving parts. So many point savers out there who may just want out. I shared my points but didn’t want to risk going in at 4 even. No thank you!

With all the changes that have been proposed it would not shock me to see that it took 5 point for general this year.
