Build problem

Anyone ever run into this issue? The options we can think of are making the bolt longer, raising the scope, getting rid of the throw, or cutting the throw back at a 45 degree angle. I think I’ll do the last option but just wanted to see if any of you have had this issue.

I have the issue on a rifle as well...and I just deal with it. Only shooting at range when on max power and have conflict. Game shots, I dial down a bit and conflct isn't there. Before I read your whoel message I was thinking chamfering the throw so you are on the right track - you don't need much to grab there ,so you won't miss that 45 cut I don't think

If you're really handy, grab an angle grinder and notch out that b*tch so 32x is a go. Or, you can just leave your really expensive, top notch rig alone and send it to paint. :D

Funny you'd post that!

I just emailed them 15 minutes ago and said that I want to remove the throw lever since it interferes with the bolt handle when approaching max power (20x on mine),
I asked for a filler screw or thread pitch and I'll get my own filler.

....and just like that!

A scant 35 minutes later and a filler screw is on it's way to my door.

That's called "damn good service" gents!

32x? SOB son, that's some serious magnification!! My suggestion lines with Zeke taking that zoom do-hicky off. But please tell us this rifle is more than a 30/06 model 700. ?

Is that the NX8? I was afraid of something like that so I never screwed on the throw lever. Your MacGuyver solution looks legit to me :D

Yes it is the NX8. I figured that if we ground it down and I didn’t like it, I would just remove it.
I thought about doing the grind down thing but any protrusions of a throw lever on the power ring (in that location and on that power) would be a serious pain, literally, if the bolt had to be thrown in a hurry....like I always do to "ready" even on one shot kills.

Nice thing is, you know there's options out there for you and you don't need to pick my option.

Sweet build, BTW!!!!!! ...and I absolutely love the idea of a sacrificial barrel. We did that a year of two ago for a couple 22-250 AI's that my bro and I built. We each have +/- 400 fire formed brass now. It took us a few Saturday's to get it all done.

I’m dealing with the same issue now with a NF SHV and a Defiance Tenacity. Frustrating! But it’s worse. Bolt handle hits the entire mag ring and ocular lens!

Oh wow I’ve never experienced that. Is the bolt handle huge?

Hey Big,
Is it possible to scallop the bolt handle a bit to clear? It’s easy to coat and bake the bolt at home so that’s not a big deal.
I kind of hate swapping scopes. Too much money for good ones, you know. I hate going higher than need with the mounts unless the comb of the shock allows a comfortable fit with higher mounts.

You can contact Defiance and they will send you a turned down bolt handle that should work. Or at least they would before Beck bought them!
It’s a common problem with the tenacity and Anti actions.

I have an anti with a March scope. Zero clearance issues. Works great. This Tenacity has a thicker bolt handle.

I called Defiance a couple days ago. They had no easy options for me. The bolt handle on the Tenacity is not interchangeable like on the Rebels or Anti. They said that they have updated the entire bolt design for less throw angle and that per my serial number I had one of the older ones. They did offer to replace the bolt but I needed to send the whole rifle back in to them, or tear it down and send the receiver back for fitting and head spacing.

No thanks. If I can’t find a suitable scope/ring combo I’m going to take a grinder to the handle myself and then just have it Cerakoted.

I had the clearance issue with an anTi action a while back and all I had to do was send them the bolt itself. They sent me a new bolt. It took a few weeks but the issue was resolved. As stated they've redesigned the throw pitch on the bolt on more recent anTi actions.

I used a sanding wheel of appropriate size to notch the bolt handle on my 28Nosler.
Worked out well and came out clean.
