Looking for advice from those that have shot 1x scopes, because I never have. With a 3-9x I’m good to 300 yards. Is that too far with 1x or would open sights be better?

I'm shooting knight bighorn magnum 28 inch barrel and 209 primers, and 420 grain no excuses solid lead bullet. My question is how much loose powder or pellets would be a max load for safety? I would like to stretch this setup to 300 yards for deer only. Thank you in advance.

Can?t seem to find what rings fit my Knight bighorn magnum. There are 5 screw holes. I would also like it to be a 1 piece base. Any recommendations? I will be using a 1 inch scope x 40mm obj.

Well this thread just got even more mysterious if this is true. I actually hunted there 2 years ago on the rifle deer hunt, and can't remember anything weird, except how ridiculously small all the bucks were.

Anyone have any advice on a reasonably priced ,but competent gunsmith within 80 miles of salt lake? I want to rebarrel my Remington 700 30-06 to .284 win. In a higher end barrel 27-28 long. I don't want to spend more than 1200.00 for rebarrel and truing the action. Thanks for any advise.

You better be in excellent shape, there are no roads to get you in to where the elk are. There are no honey holes out there. The elk run that whole range and I've seen some great bulls above 10,000 feet in the rocks. If you put in the time, you will harvest a nice bull, but it's not going to be...
