Hey fellow hunters, I have been hearing of a lot of folks talking about the deer and elk possibly getting hit hard here in NE Oregon. So far, animals are doing ok. Are we worried....yes we are, as we still have a lot of winter left. Long term forecast doesn't look favorable for the deer and elk...

Get ahold of Dave Antley jr, he lives in Klamath Falls and is a "guide", and knows everything about elk. Ask him for pictures of all his past clients big bulls, I am sure he has tons of pictures and stories! :P

Caden, We just returned from a 5 day scouting trip in Steens. We saw 16 nice bucks in 1.5 days of scouting, 3 of which were already 180 class bucks so I am guessing them to top out in the high 190s and even maybe break the 200" mark. I would just head anywhere, except the "popular" drainages...

Everyone I use to fly is in Union or Baker counties. There is a guy I know up in Wallowa county that flies, but he is another Outfitter so doubtful he would fly you around to hunt on your own. Google it....I am sure there is someone in Wallowa Co that can legally fly you. Good luck and enjoy!

Very little snow in the Blues this winter. I think boars will be coming out a little earlier this spring. But, it will still need a good green up to keep them out. As it stands now, I would come a week earlier than you usually do, for best chances at a non haired out boar. If you are just...

Wow, what a year already! I am already seeing 6x6 bulls in the velvet with GREAT mass. So should be a great year for antler growth. Congrats on the kid and the tags....probably should make a trip to Vegas a reality! ;-)

Oregon is the only state that I know of that wont publish draw statistics when its known to them who has drawn/not drawn. Talked to them today, and they said "The results should be available on your hunter info online by the 20th" Are they really that inapt or understaffed? The draw was last...

Heck, I never draw or get to go hunting anymore lol. Everyone thinks being a guide is the dream job, until they realize how hard the work really is to be a good guide, and also that us guides rarely get to go hunting ourselves! :-( But good luck everyone in the draw! Bob Staples
