Why bother with Elk when you have my luck? Just going to go for mountain goats now. My great grandfather was the seventh son of a seventh son and the Irish believed these people had good luck and magical powers. He did in fact survive an encounter with three bears when he fell into their den. He...

Can I bring my son hunting if he doesn't have his own tag?

Yes. I’m a firehose drinker. It usually works out fine. And yes, I am a responsible gun owners and know how to teach my son. I didn’t say I’m new to guns. I’m not actually brand new to hunting either. I hunted as a kid just not big game. And I hunted some for deer last year.

Can I bring my son hunting if he doesn't have his own tag?

That seems like a reasonable interpretation to me. But I’ve read elsewhere that for someone to be considered a non-hunter they can’t be involved in the hunt. Can’t be glassing etc. But maybe they can if they have a hunting license without a tag. What’s so confusing to me is that the concept...

Can I bring my son hunting if he doesn't have his own tag?

I am doing research. I’ve done a ton and continue to do it. I’m not asking for sympathy. I’m just asking for advice which I believe in the point of an Internet forum. I’ve read a lot of stuff but there are things left out. Plenty of people have been very helpful and welcoming . A few of you are...

Can I bring my son hunting if he doesn't have his own tag?

For deer, there are no draws. No special draws. No preference points. No bonus points. When you first hunt out West, you have all that stuff and it’s different in every state and there are differences for every species. And you add kids in and there are all sorts of rules and they differ...

Can I bring my son hunting if he doesn't have his own tag?

Also, I don’t see anything wrong with mentoring your kid and letting them shoot an antelope when they are between 12 and 14. Would be a great way to encourage more hunting. Anyway, not surprised to hear that it’s not allowed but I don’t think it’s such a ridiculous question. Just because you are...

It’s not nearly as complicated out East. You just buy a hunting license and go shoot a deer.

Can I bring my son hunting if he doesn't have his own tag?

Thanks. So if I have, say, my antelope tag then I could shoot an antelope. Could he shoot the antelope? Sounds like he can. Can we each shoot an antelope or do we still just share a tag for a single animal?

Can I bring my son hunting if he doesn't have his own tag?

I got an antelope tag in Wyoming, a mule deer tag in Wyoming a doe mule deer tag in Montana and a Coues deer tag in Arizona . Since I got more tags than I expected, I'd like to bring my sons on one of these hunts. He is 13 and hasn't hunted before. I am rather new to hunting myself. I've...

Wyoming website shows 27 first choice applications in the special random draw with a quota of 5. So 5/27 = 18.52% or roughly 19%. So aren't those GoHunt odds correct? That was last year. Just found the draw odds for this year quota of 5, 53 first choice, so that's 9.4%. Am I missing something?

Looked up my application. You guys are right. I guess I applied for them in the wrong order than I intended. This was first choice special draw. 69 was second choice. Sorry for the confusion. So I guess I just got lucky. Gohunt has it at 19% for < 4 points and then it jumps to 88% at 4 and...

It was the “special” one where they make you pay $600 for better odds.

Yeah. That seemed a bit odd as it was kinda a long shot second choice. Had no points. GoHunt said I had 19% chance. First choice was #69. I guess 19% for first choice. Second choice indeed said 0%. I guess I somehow lucked out. On the other hand, I didn't get my Region R first choice mule tag...

I hear that a lot about the bears. I don't know whether people seriously mean that you shouldn't hunt those areas under any circumstance or rather than you just need to know what you're doing. I assume you want to stay out of the thickly forested areas where they can surprise you and where you...
