I am a big fan of the .243 as well I love shooting my Mohawk. Recently I have been looking at the 300 blackout for my daughter. Ruger makes an afordable bolt gun in this caliber. I do not plan on her making anything over a 250yd shot. The thing I like about it is its a .308 diameter projectile.

Mossberg has a good youth rifle. Called the Patriot. It comes with a extra piece to add to the end of the stock, so as the hunter grows you can add it.

Thanks for all the input. I will be headed out to Weatherford Tx for a event called Hog fest with my friends at Axelson Tactical. I will not be traveling with firearms as they will all ready be out there for the event. It is a real quick trip due to scheduling conflicts.

I have 2 parties of junior hunters that I taught hunters ed to and their fathers drew these tags. I told them that if they drew a tag I would offer any information that I knew. I am asking the masses for some further information to help these parties out.

I carry a small saw and cut through the spinal cord and a few of the ribs until I can cut the tenderloins out. I believe the Wyoming dept of game and fish made a video a while back.
