Was fishing for carp (insert joke here) one summer when one broke my line. We were using dough bait and treble hooks. The hooks were attached to a leader with a loop on one end. Later in the day I caught a carp that had my previous lost leader and hook. Crazy thing, I had hooked the previous...
i have probably had close to 20. First 2 were 4-5mm and I ended up in the ER. I was told that is as big as most people can pass. Most of the others were 2-3mm including a pair I had 5 miles back in the Sangres. Hydrocodone goes with me on my backcountry excursions. Those 2 I passed a couple...
I killed a nice buck with a bow that had a broadhead in its spine. Interesting, it was MY broadhead from 6 weeks earlier. During archery season I had hit this buck high and never found him or my arrow. Sorry, no pics of recovered broadhead. Attached is a picture of a hog I shot that had a snare...
Might have put this up before. I think we were camped at 11,600. Also about 8 miles from truck. I had to promise my hunting partner I would not shoot just any buck.
Did a lot of shooting last year out to 500. Pretty comfortable to that distance with little wind. Even 10 mph will start to shorten range. Not hard and fast rule, but every 10 mph probably shortens by comfort zone by 100yds.
After 6 days of Mountain House and the hike back to basecamp, 10 year old medium rare Dall sheep backstrap cooked on a stick, WAS the best meat ever. Pan fried potatoes with a beer was heaven.
My last several backpack hunts have been in the Sangre’s near Westcliffe, Co. This is the only place to go when you come out of the mountains. Steak or a big cheeseburger with everything plus jalapeños. Add in the coldest beer imaginable. Great time with good people.
I think they make every effort to reissue these tags if they are surrendered. Not sure if a nonresident max point tag will go to another max point nonresident applicant. 100% agree about the 77 yr old applicant.
True story about the guy turning in his Az Strip tag. A very well known guide service is recommending their max point Strip deer hunters surrender their tags. After preseason scouting and monitoring archery kills, they feel the antler growth is below normal and giving their hunters a choice of...
Not even close. Was hunting the Sangres in southern Colorado with archery equipment. I believe the early, above timberline rifle seasons had not started yet ( mid 80s ). Saw one group of 9 bucks and 7 of those bucks I believe to be 180+. Every configuration of giant mule deer you can imagine...
just because you don’t think you have had it doesn’t necessarily make it so. The only reason I knew I had it in 2020 was because I work in a hospital lab and could test myself with the most minor symptoms. Could have easily been the most mild allergy symptoms.
