Not really. There are plenty of ways to not have the tag, but drawing the tag is the trigger for when you lose your points. The only way to get your points back would be some kind of extenuating circumstance that ODFW approves (ie can’t hunt at all, regardless of tag). My FIL got points back...

Like above, you can get a clamp where the head isn’t integrated, and add the head of your choice. I have a manfrotto clamp that is a few years old and am sure there are others out there. I don’t use it much, but would use it way less if I didn’t have matching plates on all my stuff

Yes, fields is still there serving burgers and shakes. They have gas and plugs to repair some flat tires. They had a few beers on tap last time I was there too. They used close pretty early. Denio Junction is 30 miles down the road and has 24 hour fuel as long as the pumps work.

They readily give out that info any time you call. I don’t know if it’s posted on the web since I never have looked for it. They usually fly regions every other year for deer at least.

Any bino adapter should work. They will screw into your tripod head or quick release plate, and then either clamp on to or screw into your binos. I like the outdoorsmans bino adapter and stud, but there are lots of options. Make sure to get a taller version that will work with the 56 mm...

I don’t have any experience with that hunt, but did you see the season dates for 2022? 9/26-10/12.

I had one with some dried out hide and soaked it in water for a bit to soften the hide up, then skinned it off, cleaned it up and did antlers on a plaque with it. Here are a couple examples of the finished product.

There wasn’t a shortage of roads to begin with, but now there are more “roads” that were created by repeated travel from 4wheelers and side by sides in places they shouldn’t be.

Just an FYI, but they cut the tag numbers in the last few years due to a significant drop in the deer population in that unit. Be prepared to be disappointed with the lack of deer and the number of new roads

You can also get gas in Fields, about 30 miles north of Denio. The milk shakes are pretty good too!
