    What Happened

The days of hunting deer and elk at the same time with a bow for 20 days straight were the good days. Start in NM, if you hadn't tagged out go to AZ and then come back to NM. With 6 members of my immediate family putting in this year as residents we drew 1 elk and 1 deer tag. We used to draw 3...

    WHO'S SHOOTIN THEM???

In Appendix B on page 9 of the Decsion Memo from the Gila National on Feral Cattle Removal you can read where a contract was awarded for feral horse removal from the Apache-Sitgraves Forest in AZ. A little math shows $111K was available in 2021-2022. The contract is on going this year. The...

    Jury duty

We all get to chose the laws, regulations, rules and statutes we want comply with. The person who chooses not to comply with Game & Fish laws can draw a line with the same convictions.

    Is Aoudad edible?

Having killed several aoudads, I'd compare it to a javelina. Yes, you can eat it if cooked to your liking. Good luck

    State Network Issues?

An old lifelong NM rancher told me this several years ago before he passed away. The NM Game & Fish Regulations are a lot of good suggestions. I think you can figure out what he meant by that statement in relation to the State changing his hunting opportunities. Obviously, everyone can't have...

    State Network Issues?

This would only bolster the fact that since NM is ranked 50th in almost every other category it does help keep it's number one ranking at incompetence.

    Turkeys

Heard my first gobble early this morning when I was catching horses before daylight. Ours are eating good on the fields planted with winter wheat. Snow doesn't last long in our area.

Gonna miss the hunting here but........

I read all this thread before daylight this morning. As the sun came up I was about a mile from the house riding an older horse and leading a long yearling with it's first set of empty packboxes. I was thinking my experience of living in NM was much different than some. I live in very rural NM...

Have you ever shot an animal that had a previous wound?

Several years ago, shot a bull that had been hit the week before during rifle season. He'd been hit in the hind quarter which had broken his leg up high. He was a 320ish bull and not what I was looking to shoot. He was hobbling around so bad he could harldy travel at that point. I figured it...

Newbie here…where find big bulls in AZ-27?

If he can stay off the trigger, 350+ bull opportunities. Bulls will have great bottoms this year with all the moisture this winter.

    Shoot or Pass?

I'd only pass on him if there was a bigger one standing right there.

what's the best Couse deer hunt in AZ?

The only thing I don't like about the late December hunt is, if the rut has started you can run into some broken tines on some really nice bucks. Rut seems to be moving back further all the time. I saw a coues buck today chasing a doe around. Never bred her but was definitely on the hunt.

    Pasketti!! :)

Bought all my kids a lever action 22 for their first birthday. Case of 22lr for second birthday. All good investments that resulted in lots of time together as they got older. I always was of the opinion you better buy what you want them to have while it's available. Kind of liike large...

    Feral cows

I will try to make the feral cow issue in NM as short and concise as possible. Over the last 15 years there have been contracts to remove the cattle from the Gila Wilderness. 99% of them are found between the Gila Cliff Dwellings and Gila NM on the Gila River. The area is rough, remote brushy...
