I think you made the right choice given the 14 points you would have given up. The tag increases have reduced some of the "quality of experience" that this hunt used to have. The closure will just make that worse. The bull to cow ratio is still high but the age class has taken a beating.

It was working when I stayed there a couple years ago. If your not staying there driving into Kanab would be an option and find something down there. Give them a call.

Been trying to draw a quality elk tag in N.M. for 13 years. Outfitter welfare program and lack of preference point system have conspired to hold me down. Still trying though.....

If you have not purchased an access permit in the past you probably didn't know that the sale of those permits is being administered by an Outfitter. You can smell the conflict all the way from here in Flagstaff.

Tag increases have really hurt 7W both archery and rifle. It hunts very small and crowded with 175 archery tags IMO. Was a great hunt with 100 tags.
