Deer tend to pick a temporary bed to watch their back trial. This serves to keep their primary bed a secret from predators. once they are comfortable that they haven't been followed they will move deeper into cover. Results in many unsuccessful stalks if you take to long sneaking. Hurry and...
I had them at 16". As a general rule, the main beam length is pretty near the inside spread. At least within an inch or 2. I failed to adjust my guess despite knowing the buck had a narrow inside spread.
I appreciate you being polite about underestimating your buck. Maybe you can help me figure out where I went wrong. I think it must be in the main beam length. If I guess them at 20" each then I can hit 190". Is this my error?
I like the tine length. Inside spread is a killer on his score. I'm guessing 16" inside, and in my experience about the same for main beam length.

A Turkey Tale; My first Turkey.

I killed this buck on the 5th morning of the hunt. We saw shooter bucks every day and I actually passed on this buck the night before. Dawn on Wednesday morning found us looking over the same 7 bucks and about 9am I asked my dad, ?Dad, do you want shoot that buck?? He said exactly what I knew...
Beautiful knives. I'll share. Both of these blades I rescued from the knife bin at Deseret Industries and fitted to mule deer sheds.
AS far as hunting, I carry a simple locking blade and a 6" Rapala Fillet knife for fine work like caping.
