    Southeast Idaho winter kill

Hunted ID Bear River unit for Elk last year also had a general deer tag for ID. I saw less than 30 deer in 20 days of hunting. I was focused on Elk however, the deer numbers were the lowest I have seen since the big winter kill of 1992-93 if any of you remember that kill off. This looks very...

    Bear River Zone Idaho

I had the tag last year and have hunted the Utah areas right up to the state line for many years. There are elk through out the unit and plenty of public access. I would scout Franklin Basin and Beaver creek area within 10 miles of the Utah border. There will be more people (many non-hunters)...

    Idaho Bear River (75/78) elk

See you on the mountain. I also have an Elk Bear River (A) tag and general deer tag with archery and muzzeloader endorsements. Plan to archery for both deer and elk. I spent a lot of time primitive weapon Utah when it was in November back in 96-98. a lot has changed since then. I know the Utah...

Guess the Age of this buck

Typical B&C Mule deer it would likely get close to 170 after deductions. Your photos present some challenges to speculate a score with accuracy. I see a few extra points and it appears maybe some broken/missing points G3/4 on left side? Age at least 3.5 maybe 4.5 years old. I have lived from...

    Shed dog training

I have a Golden retriever and a Lab/Healer mix that both love to shed hunt. I started them by hiding sheds in the back yard. It just takes persistence and a bread that likes to please and or find things.

    1 point sword.

really cool Elk shed and if you ever bread that 2 headed dog I'd like a pup. My wife works with a guy that shot what we named "Handicapped Elk" it was a full 6 point about half of a 320 class bull and just kind of a unicorn point on the other side. I bet it had some neat sheds like the treasure...

when do the deer dropp there antlers

It took a long time to bring up the ethics course. I agree if you can't pass that course don't leave the site of pavement. You can hunt with out the course after April 15th. By then the sheds in your special place will be in someone's basement. I wish you luck anything to get out side the house...

    Utah Bonus Permits

Thanks all for the information, It looks like we may be waiting a year of two. Friend has 13 Bonus Points as a Non Res, I have 12 as a resident. I think the cut off will be 14 points for Non Res, LE Book Cliffs Muzzleloader this year. If just a few applicants shift to Vernon or Paunsaguant...

    Utah Bonus Permits

I read a lot of the fourms on this site and have picked up some great information, However I have not seen anything about Bonus Permits with a Resident and Non Resident on the same application. The question is if we apply as a group for LE Deer and I'm in the pool of Bonus Permits (I have...

    Late hunt on Crawford

Woodruffhunter is dead on, 1- Winter Kill, What happened the last 5 seasons to manipulate overall deer numbers. 2- Wyoming fence 3- Weather dependent A lot of the folklore of this great little spot came from 30+ years ago before the HIGH FENCE, and everyone had covered ATV's/4X4's and just...

    muzzleloader/scope?

I have been hunting with only Muzzleloaders since 1990 except for that bad choice to any weapon general bull elk hunt in 1996 to help a co-worker out. My understanding of laws of physics is that if I put a bigger scope on my 58 cal. 1/66 twist barrel I will be able to get that round ball out...

    Conservation Permits???

Money!! follow the money they generate. It is always about the money. Sorry I wish it was a better final answer. That is just the way the world works. Sheep hunters will pay a lot for a hunt and they are harder to get in the drawing.

    15 Res Elk Points

I agree with Vanilla. Choose what weapon you want to do this hunt with and go from there. After 15 years of points why compromise and take whatever hunt you get when you are so close to the hunt your dreaming of. I'm not saying everyone should keep going until they draw a Henry Mountains any...

    Utah gen elk hunt

I have been deployed with the military for a year and didn't apply last year for permits or dig into the regulation. So if I'm reading this right PG 18 hard copy/ PG 10 on digital PDF 2018 Guidebook for $150 OTC spike bull/any bull hunter (I use that term with caution) they have the opportunity...
