Sounds like you drew Eklutna. Go for the draw hunt. Mature rams are scarcer than ever all across Alaska so why not take this year to try something new. Could be a once in a lifetime experience. You can go general next year, and the year after, and the year after... Where did you draw?

The stats are a joke. Check the 2023 deer tag draw statistics, some of the numbers are just copied from 2022. I suggest that in the future CA F&G post draft regs on MM for a week and let this crowd do the proofreading before CA posts an official version of the regs.

I won't guarantee it's "safe" but for decades I've hunted with a .54 TC Renegade loaded with 100 grains by volume of Pyrodex RS behind a 430 grain lubed TC maxi-ball. That conical bullet has been discontinued but a few internet sources sell cast bullets that are basically identical.
