I recently finished up this antelope mount and would love feedback on how it looks. This is the first and only antelope I've ever done so I just want to see what people think. I am happy with how it turned out though so I guess that's all that matters, but I am open to constructive criticism. Don't mind the weird hair on the top of his shoulder. The buck had a huge patch of new hair growing in and cutting it out would have made the hide too small to fit the form so it had to stay.

16.5" on the straight side. Alive I thought he was longer than that, but a 16.5" antelope isn't super common so my mind wanted to think he was longer than that.

Looks great! Only thing I would say is your showing too much flesh in the nostrils. Check out your reference...lopes show very little if any flesh ever. Even the front of their septum is black.

Great work!

well I'm going to give it to you straight. From what i can see the tear ducts are not showing up very good, maybe its the pics but I can't see them. This it the first thing I look at when checking out any mount then the horn or antler bases pedicales then the orientation of the hide is it crooked or twisted is it bunched up, ears are they drumming ? eyes are they straight are they looking in the right direction? but looks good at initial.

I guess I’m confused as to what you mean. Antelope do not have tear ducts like a deer or elk do.

A few issues I see is that pronghorn normally don't pull their ears forward like a deer does. Most of the time the opening is facing outward or slightly forward. Curl the ear tips back a bit . They also have hair patterns that most be enhanced in order to give this animal justice. It's as simple as taxi the skin into the correct area and they come together. Like said before the pink septum is way back and cannot be seen like your's is showing. A roll of clay in needed under the eye to create a swell roll for a rutting buck. If u want further tips send me a pm and I can try and help.
Antelope are tough to mount correctly, I'm still learning also. Here is my last one

For giving so much criticism you'd think you'd know antelope don't have tear ducts like deer and elk lol

I think you did a fine job for you first pronghorn. It's hard to give a accurate critique through photos. But you did a good job. Like the earlier post the biggest issue is the pink inside nostril, not a big deal. At least you did add some depth to the nose. It's way better than my first pronghorn. I bet that non typical horn was tough the core. Keep it up.

Honestly the hardest part of the whole mount was accurately matching up the back piece of the eye where the skull and manikin meet and then building up the back half of the eye to look natural. It took me a few attempts and pissed me off but I finally felt like I had it right.

The biggest thing I pick up on and go straight to on any animal mount is the eyes. It seems to me the offset is different for each eye. Right eye sticks out more than the left. And maybe the nostrils opened up a bit much.

Looks good otherwise and a very unique buck.
