Looking for unit to use my antelope points

Hey I've been saving points for everything and am looking to use my antelope points soon so I can try to hunt every year or every other year for them. I'm trying to decide where my best option is to get a trophy buck and have the best chance at getting one! Any thoughts would be appreciated! Been trying to look at RFW too. I have 15 points

I'd check out the latest B/C Record Book entries & research from there as to units. If my recall is good, I believe the NW Corner units in Moffat are the tops in B/C, but others too are Jackson County around Walden, plus the southern areas too around Co/NM state line area, like Las Animas County for one, but there are lots of private lands there that outfitters lease up &'you can't just hunt there. That's why I think the NW corner units would be the very best -- lots of huge & remote BLM areas to hunt. Jackson County has had some big winter losses several times over last 15 years & it hasn't recovered fully. Talk to all the Wildlife Biologists & Game Wardens &'quiz them for details & get really good detailed maps. 15 points are a huge load to drop on one hunt. Choose wisely. I only have 7 points so I'm lost in the middle. Best Wishes, Jerry Gold, Fort Collins, Colorado ?

Where In unit 63 is this? I’ve heard of a small herd along time ago but thought they were all killed off?

If I had that many points I'd look to find some private land west of Craig in unit 3 or 301 an pay a trespass fee. Last time I hunted that area there were lots of antelope around. Or unit 201, lots of antelope.

Depends on what your expectations are. Colorado doesn’t really have near the quality of antelope that places like Arizona, Nevada, New Mexico or Wyoming have obviously. I burnt my points a couple years ago on 3/301 and had a fun hunt but it wasnt 14 points good but nothing really is in Colorado when when compared to 1 to 5 point hunts in Wyoming. Don’t go into them with a unrealistic expectations, a 14 to 15 inch buck that scores in the mid 70s is a upper in buck most any where in the state.

Yea I know the number of big bucks here in Colorado is not like other states. I would like a trophy buck or close to it though with 15 points though. So I'm just looking to see what I can find researching and talking to people with possible locations on private or places that they have been and seen good bucks. Thanks for your input so far guys!

Yes indeed-- southern Colorado units should a must look area for bigger bucks worth the points. I've never hunted there, but I've hunted across the line & many times in N Mex & there are some big bucks on occasion in NM & some in far southern Co.. The problem are all the private ranches in southern Co & in northern N Mex too.
Jerry Gold in Ft Collins, Co ?

So you talking south east Colorado or south west, like south of Alamosa area? Yea from everything I've heard so far it is northwest CO and Like south around Antonito. Positives up north is lots of BLM, but sounds like nice buck down south if you can find permission.

Thank you for your comment on my late wife ! Miss her every day.
On southern Colorado, like Las Animas county & around Antonito, I'm thinking you may want to ask the CPW people how to get permission from some of those better ranches ? Better yet, the name & location of some of those better ranches & just where the better bucks have been taken in last few years. The Boone & Crockett Recent record books will tell you a lot, or their computer listings too. That may be the best of all. But many of those big better ranches are likely taken every year by Outfitters like N Mexico is. That's why the prices there are out of the reach of many hunters, me included. Private land means high prices in almost every situation. Jerry Gold ?

Anyone ever try a RFW property? Have no idea what it takes to draw or whether its worth it. Always wondered though.

Never really found it to be huge advantage. I think the key to antelope in general is having as much country as possible to cover to dig out something big
