Deer Hunt Iowa

I have an opportunity to lease more ground that surrounds the 850 acres we own. It is always nice to have a little more elbow room but mostly I want to control the hunting pressure and improve the deer management in the area. I just do not want to pay for it and this is where you might come in. I am thinking about leasing the land and allowing one or two hunters annually to hunt the land to pay the lease. The lease for the 320 acres is about $3500 plus some quality food plots = $4,000. So two hunters each paying $2,000 covers the cost to control this ground. I do not gun hunt so I am willing to allow non-residents to party hunt for a buck on my gun tag (perfectly legal in Iowa). This means you can buy a non-resident doe tag and hunt bucks every year while building points to archery hunt. This only works during the 1st and 2nd gun season. I do not want to be a guide or outfitter but this might be a system to allow us to get more ground under our management/control and provide a slightly lower cost high quality hunting experience to non-resident hunters. This would only cover the hunting (land, stands, food plots, etc.) and field processing of your deer (food and lodging on your own). I am sort of just testing the waters and looking for the right person or people. Thoughts?

Here is what other guided hunts in Iowa are running.

I had to look that up since the zones only apply to non-residents, the southern part of Zone 7.

FWIW, 2 points was 100% draw for NR archery in zone 7 last year. 0-1 point was about 25%.

For gun, 100% draw with 1 point and 47% with zero points.

Said a different way, you can bow hunt it every 3rd year, or draw the NR gun tag every other year. Assuming NR's can party hunt on Iowan's tag (I don't know but I have no reason to doubt him), you can use that tag if you aren't drawn.

Yes you can. I do it every year. The only stipulation is that the landowner with the tag must be in the field with you.

I am very interested in this! Please PM me your contact info? I have the points to draw it, but have been concerned about the ability to find an opportunity like this.
