Youth Any Bull

Sometime told me ( not sure of accuracy) that the youth any bull had 7k applicants this year? Any validity to that? Is that up or down in terms of years past from some of you that may follow this hunt. I am in with two of my boys for this.

Looked back at 2019 applications, looks like there were:

7218 - Residents
309 - Non Residents

So seems like 7k wouldnt be unusual

So the 7k number is a total number, I guess what I should be following is the NR applicants. Thanks!

Non resident odds are significantly better just based on the lack of applicants. They have ranged from around 1 in 3 to 1 in 6 over the years and with 2 boys in the draw your odds are even better. Hope yalll get a tag!

Appreciate that. My nephew drew last year and shot a spike, great first bull for a 12 year old! There was three Ford boys in last year and one drew, true to the 1 to 3 odds.

I got my two nephews and one niece for cali that are in on the youth bull together! I am hoping they draw because I live in vernal and got a few spots for them to fill their tags! :)

Out of all of my kids only two have drawn that tag. Not a guaranteed tag or easy to draw. My oldest drew the first year of the program. My youngest drew last year. It was a fun 30 minute hunt. At seventeen she got her first elk.

Nice Bigjohn. Same here. Two sons drew. One never did. Took a couple other youth hunters also. Great hunt with the youth.

This is the 6th year putting my daughter in. I'm beginning to loose hope.
My daughter finally Drew a LE Bull tag at 22 . Never got the youth Bull hunt. But she did have a few cow elk tags to grow on. So put your youth in for the cow elk hunts. The spikes can be tough in some areas. But still fun to see the elk even if they are all bulls and cows.

My son drew as a NR 3 years ago and we struck out. We hunted the Red Loop area in the northeast part of the state.

Looks like a bunch of big grins and lasting memories! I'm pretty sure my 14 year old drew out this year as I had near zero chance on my choice. I would love to hear some ideas on units as I have only hunted one northern general unit and it has to have snow to have any elk in it. I could trade info on boulder elk if that would help anyone.

Utyotekiller I believe your elk tag would be $285 and a youth elk tag would be $120.

This may help you out. Hope it is your kid. The youth hunt is a blast.

My bad. Youth elk is $50.

Looks like my 13 year old son drew this year as well as a NR. Looks like we have the summer to research and practice with a little larger rifle than he has been shooting. This will be his first big game hunt. He has shot 3 whitetail deer the last 3 years.

Either my son or daughter drew this hunt as a NR, they were both on the same CC. This would be my daughters first big game hunt if she’s the lucky one!
Looks like I have a lot of research and scouting to do this summer!
