In this photo contest, let's see some of your Wide Buck Photos. They can be success photos or scouting pics, regular point-n-shoot camera pics, digiscoping pics or even trail camera photos. Feel free to post up to 3-4 photos for the contest, but post them in separate posts, as only the first photo in each post shows up as a thumbnail above.
Share a little detail about the pics too!

We'll run the photo contest for 3-4 weeks and a winner will be picked.

(BE SURE TO VOTE FOR WINNERS by LIKING PHOTOS)

The contest prizes for the winner will be a Large European Skull Hanger and a Medium angle European Skull Hanger from Dead On Display. So you'll have one to hang a big bull elk rack from and one for your big buck. These skull hanging kits are real cool, so even if you don't win, jump over to their site (https://www.deadondisplay.com) and check them out.
Thanks to the folks at Dead On Display for the hangers! They're helping to keep Monster Muleys fun to visit, so please support them.

Every time I look at this picture of my 2015 buck, it reminds me how lucky I was to shoot the buck standing broadside. If he would have been running away from me with this view in my crosshairs, I would have definitely got buck fever and probably would have missed and thought that I had missed out on a 40"er.

Taken by my cousin in northern Utah in the 60s. I will try to find a better photo if you think it might be a contender ?

Never understood why eveyone measures the greatest outside spread and calls their buck that wide. Outside doest have anything to do with score. Measure the inside thats how wide it is

All the big buck contests i know of go by score so only inside spread is used. There is no scoring system that uses outside spread

I can't say for other states but I know all the larger big buck contest in Utah always used the outside spread before they were banned. I bet if you did a poll, 90 percent would say they measure the outside spread when telling people how wide a buck is. That's just the way it's always been done in the west. When I shoot a big typical 4x4 plus eyeguards. I usually tell people I shot a 5x5 but most people just say a 4 point. Never a 10 pointer. Regardless how you measure, let's see more wide bucks!

So you're saying you've never seen a contest go by score?
All I have seen have been height, width ,plus points or just outside spread, or body weight. Or a mix for different prizes. But no I have not seen the "Big Buck Contest" go off of Boone and Crocket or SCI scoring systems. But that is just the Big Buck Contests I grew up seeing and following.

Years ago the contest at Wyoming Trucks went by B&C gross score. Before that all the contests here were what they called "box" score. Outside spread plus height( measured straight up from the skull cap) plus total number of points over 1". So I've seen it both ways, but only once was it by B&C scoring.

Maybe I just haven’t paid attention to recent contests. I’m more of a big buck guy than a score guy. I know they can coralate but some of my all time favorite bucks would’nt score worth a shiit. ??‍♂️

In our Nevada contest we used to use the box score being number of points, outside width and height from skill cap. We had plenty of people mad at us because we didn't use B & C or SCI. A few years ago we changed over to SCI which uses inside spread for width.
But when me and my redneck friends are talking width amongst ourselves we talk outside spread. I like wide bucks I cannot lie. But seriously, whether you measure width to the inside or outside what does it really matter? You are just measuring air and not horn growth. Fatrooster
