Luxe Tent Input vs. Kifaru vs. Seek Outside

Has anyone on here used the Luxe 6 man or more importantly for me the 8 man tipi? I am thinking of ordering one, but am curious as to the quality. It would be great to hear from someone who has experience with Luxe, Seek Outside and Kifaru tipis. The Luxe is about half the cost of Kifaru. I know the fabric is polyester vs. Kifaru's Nylon. The Luxe 6 man is nylon though. The company told me that the larger 8 man does better with polyester because it doesn't sag as much as nylon when wet. Apparently smaller tents can get away with nylon and the sagging. That is one of the differences in price point. I do like the options for liners and floors etc. in the Luxe tent line. Any input would be great. Thanks.

I bought the 6 man a couple weeks ago and have set it up a couple times to figure out the process and to seam sill. I think it will serve me well for my November deer hunt with a stove.

It does, seams are good, zipper is quality and plenty of tie out points to keep it tight. Buy a quality center pole and you should be good.

That's good to hear. So are you saying the pole it comes with doesn't quite cut the mustard?

The 8 man comes with a pole, maybe the 6 man doesn't because it has the loops at the point to hang it from?

Doesn’t come with a center pole. Luxe does sell them, just not included.

Luxe has horrible customer service btw. They are a take your money and run company. I have one of their smaller tipi’s and it’s ok. They are cheap for a reason though! If I was going 6 man or above I would save up the extra dollars and go with Kifaru or SO. And that’s saying a lot because the last person I want to give money to is Aron Snyder who owns Kifaru.

I rocked the seek outside 8 man tipi with myself and my 2 brothers for 9 days in Wyoming last month. It was great! Had the stove in there and used it on the one stormy day we had. Plenty of room for us, all our gear and some firewood.

The tipi will sag and tighten depending on the weather. Get extra guy lines and stakes and you can adjust it each day depending on your weather.

Love it. Made backcountry hunting very comfortable this year.

Slightlysober, since I posted this question this morning I have been doing more research and all I'm finding is negative stuff about Luxe. I think I am going to stay away from them. Thanks for the advice.

Copple2, we usually pack in fairly good sized cots. Will the 8 man SO with a stove fit 3 guys on larger cots?

Elklover, all 3 of us had cots with sleeping pads on top. Low to the ground style, but cots for sure. All 3 of us are larger guys and we still had the room we needed.
