I shot a small mule deer buck and when I got to the spot he was standing when I shot, this is what I found.

How is that the initial blood spray when there is blood in his track two feet behind that???

From the bad pictures he is shot in the back left leg. Doesn't look like it broke bone.

I shot a buck once with a muzzleloader at 125 yards..he ran off..when I walked over there all I found was a ball of fur..couldn’t find blood spray cause it was snowing pretty hard which made the blood trail non existent..I followed his tracks for 45 minutes..they made a huge circle back to where I originally shot from..there he was..dead from a gut shot...I hit him a few inches behind his lungs..he died 50 yards from where he was standing when I shot

The bullet entered from the right side and exited the left side. It struck arteries. :) Without more info, that is about all we can say

Aren’t you the op of “shoot what you want” thread? Did you shoot another small buck or is this a test?

Left leg at the chest line would be my guess... left leg is dragging slightly more in the snow in the tracks, blood hits directly on each track and slings to the side as he lunges in between steps. Makes sense with what appears to be a slightly toward the leg and low hit with the shot in relation to the tracks..

Based upon the first pic, It looks like you hit him low in the gut.

You were shooting from a hill slightly above the deer (possibly the grassy knoll).

The bullet passed through him mid body and low.

You are right handed and shoot a rifle right handed.

Shooting a 30.06, 165 grain bullet.

The shot was 242 yards.

It was overcast at the time of the shot. Thus causing you to misjudge shot placement. Combined with the excitement, being right handed, you pulled Trigger and jerked rifle an inch causing the low gut shot.

You panicked, looked at your phone and realized you had service.

You then posted this thread before tracking it hoping your MM family would settle you down for the track job.

Hopefully by now you have found it and you can confirm that I was 100% correct in my analysis.

Now you want to offer me a job as an investigator for your company.

Sorry. I have a job and this screening was worthless.

I know this guy, he’s an engineer and overthinks stuff. I think the Colorado skunk bud is a bad influence on him.

Hard to tell just based off a photo. I’ve seen many lung/heart shot animals not drop more than a couple specks of blood, run a 100+ yards before expiring and I’ve seen more blood than a horror movie come out of a a cow elk that was hit square in the lady parts and only got 20 yards.

Ok so hold on...You have posted 4 times since Thursday. You posted that you got a 5 point on 10/28, first since 2007. Then you posted a picture of a buck you shot on 10/30 (where the weather had been hot). Then on 11/2 you wounded a mule deer buck in the snow...
What is going on here?

Prolly Camtopps again.....Trolling.....again.

No not me. I’m flattered though. The OP is a pot head from Colorado. Not that there’s anything wrong with that. It’s legal now!

And Columbo just because he posted photos on 11/2 doesn’t mean he killed it that day. Do you think the pics could be from 10/28? You know the day the buck was killed much too young? ???

Come on stone, we are giving you a hard time because we are bored and wishing we were in the field hunting, but would love to know about your buck. What’s the story?

Based on the evidence, I'm going to say it was a young buck--probably a 2 point--facing to the right that you hit right behind the shoulder from about 250 yards away.

It was a lethal shot, but since he didn't go down right away, you followed up with a couple of unnecessary shots and he went down within 50 yards.
