Wipe out

I bought the wipe out foam barrel cleaner. I’m cleaning a Remington 722 257 Roberts that hasn’t had a good cleaning in I don’t know how long. We don’t clean rifle barrels that much to be honest and when we do, it’s a quick kind of half assed job. I am at 4 passes so far and let one dose sit in the barrel overnight and the patches are still dark blue. I will mess with it through out the day and hopefully it does what they claim and the patches come out cleaner. Do any of you use this stuff? Have you noticed an increase in accuracy afterwards?

If you don't have a stainless steel or plastic jag the brass jag will transfer color to the patch. Put some Wipeout on a patch and wipe the brass jag and it will turn blue. ce61

I never thought about that. That makes sense. I just did it with a plastic jag and there’s fewer blue on the last pass.

Use Bore Tech proof positive or Tipton Ultra jags.

If you’re gonna use the foaming bore cleaners be sure you plug the chamber when you let it sit, and use a good bore guide (always!). That stuff gets sticky over time and you don’t want it in your chamber or action. I’d blast out with some gun scrubber afterwards to make sure it’s all out, and then oil everything lightly for rust protection.

Thanks for the replies. This is the first time I used the stuff. It turned out good. I definitely use a rod guide. In the long ago past I didn’t, I used the brass nipple that comes with the Sinclair rod, but I believe guides are a must. I will now take it out of the stock and give it a good cleaning because it looks real bad from years of use. I just bought a scope, Bushnell Engage, for it so it should be a decent rifle now. I will show pics after I get it finished.

Hey coues!

You Trying To Lose Accuracy?

(((RAZZIN Ya!:D)))

But You'll Have To Foul it To Bring The Accuracy Back In!

Just Thought I'd Mention it!

So Don't Get it Too Clean!:D

I use it and it is best to let it set overnight. If your gun has severe copper fouling, it may take 3-4 overnight uses to get all the copper out.
I use it when my 25-06 groups start to open open to over an inch. Use the wipe out and groups go back down to 1/2-3/4 inch with my hunting load.
If you do not have a chamber plug, I jam several large cleaning patches into the chamber neck to prevent leakage and use a cleaner after to remove all traces of the wipeout and light oil with a patch.
