Ate the tag

Hunted hard for two weeks in Idaho. Couldn't find a buck I liked. Saw lots, had one chance at a good one, in that 25-28" range. Didn't happen, he was covered up by his does. I had a good time and spent some quality time with my dad. We saw lots of moose, several Bighorns, a few elk, one antelope and two mountain lions.. We'll get em next year!

Good for you for not shooting a smaller buck to avoid eating the tag. Wish more people would have the same restraint.

Sparks, that truly is what its all about..I read and see so many post about how the hunt sucked because they "only" got a 3 point or "settled" for a lesser buck..I don't feel that way. I went looking for a better than average mule deer and didn't have the opportunity to harvest what I was looking for. I'm a decent hunter..I could have killed a buck every day of my hunt. I just didn't find the one that TURNED MY CRANK. I feel like if people took this mindset, they would start to truly enjoy the hunt more. I have no regrets and love my time in the hills!

Calbuck, Good for you. I believe as people mature as hunters it can take on different meanings for people. Whether it to hunt more mature animals or to simply help other get theirs if your having fun and enjoying the outdoors that what matters. Sound like a good hunt by anyone's measure!

Nice post. Too much fighting on here between R and NR. In the end it’s the individual, their attitude and ethics, not your residency that matters. Welcome in my camp anytime.
