My son killed this unique piebald buck during the muzzy hunt. He had a goal of killing a mature buck and he passed on many small bucks during the hunt with hopes of seeing something bigger. When we glassed up this cool buck he said “Dad, I know he’s not a mature buck buck but I like him and want to make a rug”.

We were able to get within 122 yards of the bedded buck and he made a great shot. He’s been great eating so far as well :)

My 12yr olds largest buck, we hunted hard and passed up a lot of decent bucks before deciding to take this one. He’s defiantly an older deer, huge body and I can’t get my hand around the antlers just above his eye guards.

He was shot at just over 50 yards right before dark on our 5th evening hunting him. My son actually missed him the evening before. Killed in Eastern Oregon.

My Kansas velveteen muzzy buck. I went out solo for a 3 day hunt and had my plan all in place. I arrived early the day before my plan the season had already started so I had just enough time for an evening hunt. I had circled a new piece of public WIHA section that had nice drainages coupled with un cut corn wrapping around heavily brush draws. I quietly walked about two rolls inside the corn along the edge. I was seeing a lot of good sign kicked out a doe and a forkie along the way and sat over looking the junction of two drainages coming together. I started working my way back out and caught this guy getting up from bed about 60 yards out broadside. So all my planning wasn't needed for a complete random selection. I love hunting!

That’s is so awesome congrats

Went out opening morning on horses only to find
5 atv/utv road hunting “non motorized” area in the same locations we were. We left empty handed. We headed back after the storm and spent a cool night with only a day left to hunt because of obligations. We had a bluebird day and shot a couple deer. We spent the next few hours winching them out of a deep canyon to the top where our wheeler was. We loaded them up and got out as temps were dropping.

Well my 2021 season was rough. Scouting, hunting, everything about deer was hard this year. Super low numbers and days on days without seeing any bucks at all. Some days no deer at all.

This led to me pulling the trigger on the smallest WY mule deer I have ever shot. Still a great buck but usually I pass bucks this size/age.

Given the year and the difficulty of the hunt, I was blessed with a great buck on something like my 15th days of hunting. Mind you it was only the second legal buck I have seen.

It is also the hardest hunt I have had… Spotted at first light, shot at 9:30 am. Meat loaded into truck at 5:30 pm. Total that day was 7.8 miles hiked and over 4000 foot total elevation loss/gain…

I got lucky and drew an LE muzzleloader deer tag here in Utah this year. After getting married in July, me and my new wife got to spend four weekends tent camping in August and September scouting for my hunt. We saw a bunch of bucks, a few of which were pretty nice, but only one that I thought was a sure-thing shooter. I hunted that buck for the first three-and-a-half days of the hunt with no luck. On the afternoon of the fourth day, I decided to give that buck a break and look elsewhere for the evening. I came across this guy that night and couldn’t pass him up with my wife and dad there. He doesn’t score great, but he has a bunch of character and he got me into the 30” club.

Montana general season, public land. This deer is the result of three years of dedicated big buck hunting. These deer migrate into a series of 4 canyons from summer range at 9-10,000 ft. I've hunted them early with a bow, and late in the lowest canons where the does stack up for the rut. Took a great framed 4 1/2 year old 28" buck last year Nov 13. The late weather makes access to this area almost impassable, so it's a fine balancing act in the late Oct timeframe. Packed in for 7 days for rifle opener, weathered a seriously nasty storm on days 2/3 that got the bucks more visible. Killed him on the afternoon of day 4.

2021 general season public land Utah buck. Didn’t think I’d hike 14 miles for a 2 point but he’s the biggest fork horn I’ve ever seen. I knew I wasn’t going to get any more hunting days this season so I put him down! He slid about 80 yards down the mtn.. made a good looking Halloween tubing hill.

Colorado buck! still can’t believe I was able to get the jump and this trashy old buck. Shot nov 3rd 2021, at 9:30 in the morning. We were tracking down a big 190 typical when we looked into a field and 200 yards away we saw only a rack sticking out of a field. Great time with some great people that I’m lucky enough to call friends!

We just finished an amazing hunt. My sister-in-law Ashley hunted 13 long days and passed up many great bucks. She is a mom of two young boys so it was extremely hard to juggle life and still devote so much time in the mountains and behind glass these last two weeks.
We first spotted this buck the evening before. We knew he was a monster but just couldn't really see him clear enough with the fading light so we left him and came back at first light. He was not in the same canyon the next morning and we had the sinking feeling. Then suddenly we respotted him two canyons over pushing does and rutting hard. We closed the distance from 1500 yards to 354 but the wind was howling and Ashley was not comfortable with the shot so she let this monarch take his does and walk over the top. My brother and I looked at each other in disbelief. So for the next few hours we tiptoed around the next canyon and up about a thousand feet until we could finally look down on the mahogany thicket that we assumed the buck had disappeared too. After sitting for hours glassing we finally caught movement and out came the giant. Unfortunately for Ashley she stands about 10 inches shorted then my brother and I so we can see a perfect broadside shot but all she could see was sagebrush. We quickly tried to readjust our position but the buck caught our movement and disappeared again and this time I thought it was for good. We were devastated and sat back down for another hour. We said a prayer and had just enough patience to catch him sneaking through the trees to the one tiny opening deep in the woods and stood perfectly broadside for just long enough for Ashley to make a fantastic 270 yard shot. He instantly dropped and never moved at all.
Congrats Ashley for the deer of a lifetime.

That is an impressive buck but I’m just as impressed with the second picture where her sleeves are rolled up and her hands are bloody. Giant buck and congratulations.
