Late wasatch elk help

I Scouted all summer and fall to learn the area. Daniels canyon and Strawberry for the most part. Lots of miles covered. I have been up here since Wed trying to locate bulls with no luck so far. It seems with the lack of weather they haven't moved into the areas I thought they would. Any help or tips would be greatly appreciated! I have the whole week off work to hunt and likely this will be the only LE tag I draw(due to my age, 5 yr waiting period and continued point creep)
Thanks in advance for anyone willing to help a girl out. J

I know this won't help you right now, but I'll be up there Wednesday helping a buddy with the same tag. I'd have no problem giving you info on any bulls we decide to pass on. Feel free to pm me later if you're interested.

Do you have anyone up there helping you at all?

Find the nastiest piece of real-estate you can and that's where you will find late season bulls. With this weather it will probably be a north facing remote canyon or draw.

From your scouting and hunting you know where they are not. So move to a different area, elevation, terrain type, ect. keep moving until you find some.

Also, Look where other hunters are hunting. maybe they know something you don't.

I would be happy for any info. I know a lot of people pass on bulls that I would be ecstatic to shoot. Thank you! And I do have my husband with me

Thank you. I mentioned to my husband this morning we need to just start looking for other hunters because a few places we've been there hasn't been anyone else. That's my first clue there's no elk...

I know a few historically good spots for the late season but I’ve spent no time on the Wasatch this year so I’m not much help but if DGB and Studaby are offering up pm’s with advice, you’d be well served to take it.

Thanks Shadow. I've talked to both now and excited for tomorrow. Super impressed with the replies I've gotten so quickly off this post. I've been wanting to ask some questions for a while but have been a bit nervous. Glad I bit the bullet and did it.

BBD. It’s going to be a nasty pack out….but all smiles. I’ll let Julie chime in later. 1 shot kill.
For now here's my chime in. BIG THANKS FIRST AND FOREMOST TO Stubaby and DBG. THERE'S NO WAY I COULD HAVE DONE THIS WITHOUT THEIR HELP! what an amazing couple days its been and this morning it all came together perfectly. There is a kill shot video that Stubaby filmed from way below. But here's my pic

There was a 300/310 6x6 with him. As hunting party got closer the two bulls got together and looked their way. They were about 250 yards to my right. The tree blocked the view of rhe bulls but I let them know the big 5 was above the 6x6. As soon as he took a few steps she put the hammer down. You can see what a slob he is compared to that other mature bull.

Nice job more pics please

Who Is This DBG Guy?

Now I Remember!

The Wasatch Sherpa!

Nice Job Everybody!
I have no Clue who that prick is.

Not sure who the Wasatch Sherpa is either.

But a huge congrats to Julie and her “special” husband Russell.

They are phenomenal people, and it was great to meet people with that mentality and disposition. I have hunted with many of people and not had near as much fun (pretty sure Russ wanted to make me wife #7 or whatever he is on, because he kept locking me in.)

But truly, she got a big and exceptionally unique bull. I couldn’t be happier for her.

Congratulations Julie!

Mr Sherpa man I want to thank you again. I can't remember the last time I laughed so much for 3 days straight. You are one of a kind and I mean that in the nicest way. Your willingness to help me is truly something I will never forget. In this crazy ass world it's just amazing to see someone who puts everything else aside to help a person he's never met.

And you'd be wife #4 but Russ knows I'm a pretty good shot so I think he's stuck with me.

Cheers my new friend! Let's have some more Stagg again sometime....

I am always up for another STAG.

Keep in touch. You guys were a riot. I hope your husband can draw soon.

We will have to take it a little easier on that okd man. But we can do it.

After I watched the bull go down I had to get to work. After lunch I drove to the trail head and got to the crime scene as fast as I could. Dillon and the happy couple had the bull ready for transport back to the truck.

We were able to shuttle the loads and get him out around 4pm. Here’s some more pics of the brute. He’s super gnarly. I learned today that my mystery ranch bear tooth carries an elk hind quarter waaaaaay better than the competition.

Thanks for Julie and Russell. I love glassing bulls and watching them hit the dirt.

Stand up guys for sure. And watching Stubaby drive up a dirt road at 70 mph will forever be a fond memory. Dudes crazy!! But he does make a great video and added commentary was awesome
Thank you!

Thanks for coming back to help on the pack out. Even tho Dillon didn't get his Nibs those fake Nibs provided some sugary goodness and a boost of energy

As an outsider and someone who has never hunted Utah, I just want to say how great it is to see others extend themselves to help a fellow hunter. GOOD ON YOU GUYS!
Congrats to Julie for making the shot, great bull.
DanMan it was pretty incredible to see the responses I got and how quickly they came in. I wasn't really expecting that as just like most states no one shares anything. BUT I think the big difference here is this was a LE tag which basically unless you're 20 or get super lucky it's really a OIL hunt. And DBG and Stubaby are just awesome dudes for stepping up the way they did

Well we did the first part ??.

As for looking for other hunters we tried to stay away from them as much as possible. Other hunter mean elk, but it also means other hunters…..

It's hard to imagine what the world would be like if we all followed this script.
Pay it forward and see what continues to come back!
Well done.
Right??? I'm not quite on par with these 2 but I have done a few things just this season to help out other hunters. I guess things do come back around when you do things for the right reasons. Which is pretty much just being a good human

Not to be a kill joy or anything,

I don’t want people to “research” and see this post and think that this is by any means a handout.

I personally help 2-6 people per year per hunt on the snatch. Every year every hunt has its own challenges….

I don’t want my nor stuberts message box to blow up from this. I look for certain criteria, it usually a personal reference to get my attention/help.

So if you are a “ lurker” or one and done. Please do not PM me.

Stubert can weigh in on his side.

You'd Best Check Your PM Box!

I've Got 1st Dibs on a Trophy Hunt With You Next Year!

I'm Willing To Pay Your Going/2021 Rate!:D

And You Bet!

I Want a NON-PISSCUTTER!

Bessy,

If you burn your points on the snatch, you will have my full attention for all 5 hunts!

That’s a promise!!!
