Well…… it wasn’t what I expected but it was a great trip. Lots of memories made. We saw a ton of deer 80 to 100 everyday, but only a couple mature bucks. Lots of forky’s pushing does. Didn’t want the hunt to end but after 3 days of scouting and 2 days of hunting and only seeing 2 matue bucks i apparently lost the faith. Had I seen a few more mature bucks perhaps I would have been more patient. It seemed to be a general consensus with the people we met along the way that were hunting or had hunted the unit earlier in the season, Mature bucks were scarce.
I was able to use my Dads Remington 700 300 win mag on this hunt. He passed away a couple years ago. He started bringing my brothers and I out here about 35 years ago. Lots of great memories in these mountains!

I wouldn't pass a buck like that anywhere... Well, very few places.

Great looking rack and looks like a beast of a body/neck on him. That dark brow is so good looking. Love those bucks.! Thanks for sharing.

Good buck and sounds like great memories. Congrats. I soot an old Rem 700 300 Win mag and it has been my go-to rifle for 35 years too. Great rifle. Got a new barrel this year and I think it will now outlast me.

Congratulations on a beautiful CO buck! Great WY bull as well! I’m sure your dad is proudly smiling down at you from his happy hunting grounds in the sky…

That’s awesome! I imagined other people had seen him and passed on him through the seasons. He was by the power lines a mile or so off of 149 both times we seen him.

Look at that Neck! He was tempting to me. Such a unique buck. He was full grown…… I wonder if that ia a genetic deal, injury caused or he was damaged early in antler growth.

Ran into you couple times down there.. passed by when you and your buddy was butchering him at camp.
Congrats once again on a nice buck. We ended up killing on the 4th night of the hunt.. we had a blast

No reason to second guess your choice! A couple of nice ones. The one you shot, and the one with the messed up antler.

Congrats!

He's a handsome buck, congratulations! I love that you used your dad's old gun and have memories there with your dad and brothers...that's what it's all about.
