Worst part of making jerky… Ideas?

So I have 40 pounds of ground I will be making into jerky for Xmas. 10 pounds hatched at a time. The worst part is loading the damn jerky gun. I have a larger LEM Jerky gun. It sucks loading it.

Any better ideas for speeding up the process?

Slice is best but if it’s already ground I put it in a big bowl and take both ends of the jerky cannon off so with just the cylinder push an open end down into the meat. Do this over and over, it fills pretty quick with no air gaps.

What about mixing the ground meat with the spices and such in a large bowl. Then, spread out some waxed paper. Put a blob of the meat on the waxed paper. Roll the blob into a thin sheet. Cut the thin sheet into strips. Dehydrate as normal.

The instructions say to have your wife pack the Jerky Gun while you relax and have a Beer

They make bags for the thing.

If its already ground... I wouldn't do jerky. I'd be doing hamburgers.

Otherwise, there's not really a way that it doesn't suck, or at least that's what I've heard about ground jerky.

Just stab the tube down into the bowl of ground and it pushes right in. A few stabs and it's full.

Personally I like to make jerky out of ground as well, not so tough and I like the flavor better. I just form the meat into a cylinder shape that will fit and then put it in the tube and press it down

I just used the judge shooter to make 10 lbs. I sprayed the cylinder with cooking spray and also mixed bbq sauce in the meat to make it more shoot-able and easy to roll into cylinders. Worked great. I used a Meat! 10-tray dehydrator.
