I put together a short video of our UT wilderness fishing, scouting, and elk hunting family adventures with our pack goats from the 2021 season.

Awesome video ! How much weight can one goat pack ?
The ‘rule of thumb’ for adult packer is 25% of their body weight. I have a variety of breeding in my goats, ranging from 200-300+ lbs. So, approximately 50-75 lbs. However my largest goat is actually a little too fat and heavy, so I keep it to 65 lbs or less for him. It is somewhat goat and conditioning-dependent, how much they can pack. Also distance and elevation change matters, as well.

Awesome video! Careful though legislation is going to limit the amount of goats you can have, and that one that fell in the river sorry you'll need to put him down for contaminating a watershed. Also depending on how much food your wife and daughter ate that you bought they may have been breaking the law as well. Your buddy laying on his back potentially squashed an endangered species....oh and the trail cam pics big no no!

Kidding aside congrats on the bull and the experience!

Great video! Thanks for sharing. How do you train those goats to not run off?
Bottle fed right after born thru first ~4-5 months, or so. Then just spend time giving them attention. They bond to humans that way. Then they just follow wherever you go. Problem isn’t keeping them with ya, it’s getting them away from you when you want a break.
