NDOW Updated Website

Has anyone figured out how to use the new website? Specifically finding sheep check out summaries, hunt unit information sheets etc?

I had issues with the new platform showing some checkout years and other years not being found. I liked how the prior site has them individually indexed by year. They will make it better. I’m sure it will evolve.

The search functionality has many holes in it. Much of the previously available data doesn’t show up in the search results. Many missing years/reports.

And how would one even know what type of data was available and how to search for it without some type of Table of Contents as existed previously? Some of us just know what the prior reports were – but a newbie would never stumble on to how to research NV.

Just another great enhancement brought to you by NDOW’s Kimberly Munoz and the other incompetents in NDOW Data & Technology Services.

I was just about to come on here and complain about it. Visually it looks nice, but it absolutely sucks compared to the old site. I could get to anywhere I needed in 5 seconds on the old site. I can't navigate **** on this new one. It's terrible.

it sucks! They sent me a survey and I told them I didn't care for it, Still can't find Bighorn Checkout results. The survey didn't allow me to uncheck items I have no interest in. I don't fish and they wanted me to survey it. They should of had a N/A box to check. This website seems to be designed by someone that doesn't hunt or fish. My opinion. Hope they will take some of the surveys and read them and readjust the website to make it more user friendly. It almost looks like they are making it to aplease non hunters and fisherman. Looks good but not user friendly.

I got the survey as well. The site is challenging for sure. If you need some thing (hunt surveys as an example) I would reach out to the biologists.- call the Valley Drive location in Reno.

I called them 2 weeks ago about it and the gal on the phone laughed and said they're having just as hard of a time using it. She suggested giving it a couple "weeks" until everything was transferred over, but it appears that it's still a mess.

The front desk gals at Valley Drive location are always helpful or do their best to be helpful. They are often as frustrated with stuff like this as we are, so be kind and realize this is out of their hands.

I got an email from NDOW saying my credit card has expired. It has. I got on the new site and had to hunt and peck to find where to update my info. I finally figured it out but I'm not sure I could find it again. I hate anything new.

I emailed them about the website with complaints. They said they are open to feedback. I agree (if it ain't broke, why fix). I really believe that the people behind the new website are not users of the website (definitely not hunters). I have no idea how they came up with it, it is so cumbersome and so hard to find information. I think my 10 year old daughter could have designed a better website for ndow. I hope more folks give them feedback. They sure need it.

I agree… the new site sucks!
By the time I navigated through multiple pages & found what I was looking for, it locked up on me. I had to close every page & start over. Seriously difficult to navigate through.

I just emailed them urging them to go back to the old site. I think we all should email them. The more feedback the better.

I recently filled out the survey for my son's antelope tag from 2021 because he forgot to and is unavailable. I'm not the most savvy computer guy, but wow it's a hassle to use! Clicked on the link in the email and it just took me to the hunting homepage. After lots of looking around and unproductive rabbit holes, I finally logged in with his info. I finally found his previous years' draw info and could get to the survey from there. It's not very intuitive or user friendly.

I see the bonus point data. I’m looking for the draw odds and success rates. Have you found that?

Draw odds and success rates for the previous season is in their interactive map now: https://www.hunt.wildlifenv.com/

Click on the filter icon towards the very top left window pane (the three slider icons) to filter the results accordingly (weapon type, species, etc).

Oh sorry! No I haven’t looked for that. I’m going to hop back in this morning so I will see if I can find it.

Maybe they have and I just haven’t found it but it seems a tutorial video should be posted on the main page that walks you through navigating the site and the interactive map.

Thanks for the guidance here but I’m still not seeing it. When I go to that interactive map there is no filter icon too left. There is one top right but when I open it there aren’t any options other than looking at the map or going back to the ndow page. I’m sure they will work it out, just getting to be that time for me that I spend quite a bit of time looking at past years stats

No worries. I agree with everyone, the site is not very intuitive. Take a look at the screenshot below. When you open up the map, look to the top left and you will see those slider icons (in my screenshot, it's next to "888 Hunts"). Click on those sliders and another window will slide open underneath it allowing you to set your own filter criteria.

I just took my 3rd stab at the website & I still have the same negative opinion. I took the survey & communicated my thoughts. Hopefully enough people will speak up & they will make changes to it.

I’m with you… I can’t find it either.

The draw odds and success rates can be found here.
Problem is they are apparently not for the 2021 seasons.
It appears they have not been updated for the 2021 seasons yet.

Ah yes, great point. Thank you for calling that out. Yet another thing that isn't completely obvious from the new interface. From my recollection, they seem to release that data closer to the draw date.

I looked at the new site today for the first time. It took me a while but I was able to find the bonus points for deer/Elk.

I could not find the hunt info page that shows recommendations for hunt areas in specific units. I have not spent enough time there but from what I've seen so far, I'm not impressed at all.

The old site was so much easier to navigate.

I was emailed a survey on the new site today. I encourage everybody to fill it out if you get it so they can make appropriate changes.

Received my 2nd survey today and filled out again. I see they didn't change anything I mentioned before.
