Do I Have a HATFIELD Knife?

I've got a Few of them!

Do I Have a HATFIELD GUT-HOOK?

Not Yet!:D

But I'm Planning on Owning one Some day Hopefully Before I Die!:D

I Don't have any of these D-2's Bob is Making/Selling now!

Bessy do you have one of these knives

Yep! that is the reason for the instructions to not put your custom knife in the dishwasher. 1911 was not the only one that did that. I should make it clear, 1911 was the knife owner, but it was his daughter that put the knife into the dishwasher after she field dressed and skinned out his deer.

Lmao thats one hell of a girl to be taking care of his buck!

Bess to get a dish washer safe knife would require a straight gain wood such as hickory or similar. Burl woods are pretty, but have a tendency to warp under heat and moisture.
Another way would be to use man made handle material such as micarta or carbon fiber and a epoxy that is rated for over 200 degree heat. You can forget a gut hook.
Those cheap "made in china" knives are good at being dishwasher proof, but hold a edge like Woopi Goldberg's round butt.

I love the explanation. I have like 4 gut hook knifes and only one holds a edge. The one I got at Wally World a good ole Remington gut hook knife with a rubber grip handle I got when I was 18 and forgot my knife at home on a hunting trip. I still use it simply because it works. But the higher end ones I have been gifted are junk. I got lucky with the one out of four that will hold a edge.

I can do about one and a half jobs on a deer with it before it’s needing attention. So still not a great knife but for the ten or so bucks I paid for it, it works. I am hoping that my Hatfield knife cuts as good as it looks.

Showed the GF tonight after finding where the crazy postman left it that a good knife can shave your arm hairs lol.

I sharpen my knifes religiously but this thing just feels like quality.

Thank you!
