Utah moose with 23 points

I have 23 points for Utah moose. Looks like I could possibly draw East Canyon Morgan or South Slope Diamond Mountain. Or I could put in for a lower odds tag and cross my fingers. Any ideas or suggestions? A guide is not out of the question

My only suggestion for you is if you want to hunt moose this year those two are the only tags you will be able to draw, and you’ve got a really good chance. But if your willing to wait you could probably get a better hunt in a few years.

I agree with all that except the waiting part.
If the moose herd population was inclining instead of declining, I'd think about waiting.
I usually try to draw a tag as soon as I'm able, even if it's a "lesser" unit.... but that's maybe just me.

Your probably %100 right, I don’t keep up on moose so I have no idea how they are doing. That’s definitely something to consider

It's a tough decision. The 2 units I can draw have a ton of private property.

I have 20 points and I'm optimistic (not really) that by the time I draw, maybe the herds will be in better shape. I figure if I draw a moose tag sooner than later on a lesser unit, I still may never live long enough to see a sheep tag in my pocket. So, I figure I'll just keep donating my application fee every year. I guess if it takes me another 15+ years to draw, so be it.

Sure is, your right east canyon is pretty low on public but diamond mountain isn’t bad

I have spent alot of time on diamond mtn and have never saw a good bull. Very few Moose that I can even remember.

There is a reason they are easier to draw. Both have been stated.

If you just want a moose then maybe they are ok. If you want a decent moose I lean towards more access.
