My father (RIP) scaled a big hickory tree on one of his properties in PA in the early 60’s. He was good at climbing since he was part of the “Alpine” Italian special team while in the Italian army.

When he came here in the 1950’s he was able to find work and every chance he could he bought land. He bought this 183 acre farm in PA and a the next year he realized he had a nesting pair of eagles. He scaled the tree and took this picture of the eaglet. He said the parents would swoop down at him as he got close to the nest and only had a short time to get the pics. Note the tree tops in the back ground.

He took a picture of us from above-these pictures were on slides which I found and was able to get them made into what I have.

This pic was taken at about 3 in the afternoon. Smoke from a fire about 40 miles away, as the crow flies, caused us to experience a miserable couple of days.

The results though are some pretty good blacktail hunting. Same burn was in one of my earlier photos of a blacktail country sunset.

A rare sight in Death Valley...the normally dry Lake Manly with water in it. I don't recall what year I took the photo, though I think late '90s, early 2000s.

Looks like Tuzigoot? If so, we used to ride our bikes to the swamp there and shoot frogs with our 22’s 50 years ago. Then Phelps Dodge bought it and f’d everything up.

You can almost see the hospital where I was born in that pic. It’s only a couple of miles down the river.

It's one place I'd love to visit again for a longer time. Didn't see much of the north island other than the airport, but did quite a bit of exploring on the south island, where our outfitter was based.

I spent a week there, did both islands. Then we went to Australia for about a month, if I had to do it again I would have spent more time in New Zealand and less in Australia. Both beautiful countries though…

We had 10 days to hunt a bunch of critters, so touring took a back burner. Given what I know now, I would have made an entire month of it, including a hop to Australia.

Yup. We stayed at a small outpost that they have scattered about the back country. It's free. There are bunk beds, stoves & other stuff for anyone to use. The mice running over top of you are also free.

That valley is where one of the villages in Lord of The Rings was built for filming, then demolished to restore the area to what it was.
