Not true at all.
I have never stated I want muzzleloader scopes gone, I have only stated that I would happily adapt to the change and remove my 4x12 off of mine without complaining if and when that time comes.

For the record, I have never killed a muzzleloader buck over 200 yards, but the one I did kill at 200 was before variables were allowed.
I had a 1x for that kill.

I started with Thompson New Englander, from Kmart, couldn't afford a Hawken.

Went from it to a Knight Disc.

Then bought that CVA.

The jump from the side Hammer to the disc was a jump for sure.

I got that CVA as a package with a 3x9 scope

Shoots good enough, so I've not replaced it.

And it's a big jump from that Knight. The scope is a big jump from the fiber optics.

But I didn't buy the CVA for the scope.

Point being, I fine losing it. But even further, I wonder if the scope thing was the tail leading the donkey. I don't remember some big push for scopes. It just seemed more like the new guns all had them

I still shoot the old Knight "Thumb hole Extreme" disk with a 4x12 Diamondback HD tactical on top.
I don't shoot "long range" with it so I have never felt a need to go further or better.
But I am told to remove that particular scope, so be it.

Adopt Oregon's muzzleloader season and it is all done for you. Either that. or leave one the way it is with a lot less permits and replace the now existing ML hunt in November with a primitive hunt, no scopes, black powder ( no 209) side hammer, etc, etc. available in all units as a limited entry hunt and more permits. You could cut a week from the archers and then move the primitive hunt before the regular ML hunt. Lets face it this point creep also needs attention.

I would like to muddy the water even more and see two different kinds of applications for limited entry hunts. One where you gain points and one where you don't and it is the luck of the draw with everyone with an even chance. On the one where you gain points you cannot apply for another hunt for that species. Choose your poison. Boy watch the point creep go down then.

Mine was the OG with painted camo stock that rubbed of?

Also......I have never spoken out against any individual weapon, I have only voiced opposition towards baiting, camera's, FLIR, night vision, etc, etc.
I have never went after anyone's bow, muzzy or rifle.
I apologize Slam. I went off memory which I should not do at my age….

I was wrong. Sorry about that.

I disagree bess.

They gave the smokepolers scopes a few years ago, and look what they did with them.

Immediately ramped that sh!t to ? and started pushing the limits and creating new tech and making it more and more main stream. Look how many new companies there are now focusing just on long range muzzleloaders.

The pole smokers did it to themselves, you guys created this mess. I don't look at it as taking it away, it's just taking it back to how it used to be.

Not saying we cant put some limits on the other things, but the only ones to blame for the current situation is the muzzy hunters.
Absofreakinglutely.

Yes I replaced the 1x on my Knight with a 4x12, but I still haven't made a kill with it as is over 100 yards.

But......like @JakeH pointed out.....look what it revolutionized!

It'll Be The Next Thing They Try & Ban!

Banning The Scopes On SmokePoles Will Make NO F'N Difference In Fixing The Suffering Herd If The Other 50+ Issues are Not Addressed!

And As SLOW As Any Changes will Be Made You Can KISS It Goodbye!

I Suppose When The New E-Wheeler's & E-QUADS Come Out Every TARD Hunter Will Own One/Some & Put The TARD Sneak on anything That's Left in This State While We're Here Trying To Get One Little Ole PISSCUTTER Change Made!

!

You got that right, I'm sure Polaris will pioneer that one first!

Wow - what percentage of muzzy hunters would be capable of a shot with any open sights past about 300? A tenth of one percent??!
About the same as can dope a muzzle correctly now over 400 , and shoot it accurately at game. Hell the slightest wind pushes you feet, if I have to use a peep I will figure it out so will others

We all know the technology and advancements in hunting have made us better at harvesting animals archery, muzzleloader and rifle. Some guys like the new stuff some like the old ways. I dont think taking away from the way a guy likes to hunt is the answer. Its just going to be a constant circle of what's the next guy going to give up because they took from me. Maybe if we are this successful now days we look at how long we actually need to hunt. Maybe we look at shortening hunt dates to meet harvest rates. Shortening seasons doesn't cut tags and stills allows guys to get out and hunt the way they choose.
Thanks for sharing this. I for one would not be in favor of this. We want to be able to hunt more with less advanced weapons not less. Also, shortening the seasons does not have a huge effect on how many animals are killed. They limited the seasons down to three and five days years ago and it didn't do much good.

I disagree that shorter seasons don’t save animals because years ago, hunting the Monroe I saw noticeably more bucks and a lot more 2-1/2 year old bucks the years that survived the previous years shorter rifle seasons.

I vote yes on this. The main reason is that when it was open sights or 1x scopes there were way fewer hunters out hunting during that season and I loved it. As soon as it changed it created essentially an early rifle season, in addition to the other early rifle season that they came out with which ruined the good thing we had. Not that I am opposed to using scoped muzzleloaders.

And It's No F'N Different Than Banning The Lion Hunting in KALI!

Or Trying To Ban Black Guns!

They'll Pick on the Easiest For Them First!

I Don't Have A Problem With it As Long As The Other 2 Weapon Types Get Restrictions As Well!

Fair is Fair!

Or it at least it Used To Be!

It Will Be a CHICKEN-SSHHIT Move if They only Put Restrictions on SmokePoles!
All tech is on the table from what I took from the recent board working session

From the board meeting I do not think they will go back to open site or 1x scope. I would guess there will be a cap on what power you can have around 6x

This is just banter so don't get your panties in a wad.

I see a few replies about if we ban high power scopes from muzzleloaders, we should take something from archery as well. I'm curious what you would take away from archery? Compound bows aren't the answer. Compounds have been around longer than most modern rifle calibers. It would be the equivalent to taking cartridges from rifles. There is no magnification allowed with archery sights. Maybe let off?? Sure make compounds have only 50% let off. Maybe limit the number of arrows you can have?
Am I wrong by saying most people who hunt with a bow also hunt with muzzleloaders and rifles... But most people who hunt with rifles don't hunt with a bow, and don't understand the challenge in archery hunting? If it makes all the butt hurt people feel better to take something from archery then tell us what it should be. I'm curious.

Arrows take all the arrows. You can have the bow, but not the arrows.

If you must have arrows then you can only use blunt points.
