Anybody Know:

How Long The Batteries Will Last Before Needing Replaced?

How Much Will It Cost For Replacement?

How Much Will a Charge Cost?

What Linda FusterCluck Will It Be At The Charging Stations?

Who's Gonna Have A Generator in the Back/Trunk?

Anybody gonna Build More Power Houses Any time Soon?

When somebody forgets to Charge their Vehicle & are Stranded out in the Middle of nowhere will the Tow Truck Just Bring a Big Ole Generator out that Runs on/Burns Fuel?

If You're Pulling 20K-30K How many Miles You Good For?

How Many Road Hunters Will Slick Them Up Because They Are Quiet?

If I Can't Pipe-Em They Can Keep Em!

I got rid of a Golf Cart cause replacing the batteries was 50% of what I paid for the thing.
Gonna be interesting when all those Teslas start needing new batteries.
And I keep envisioning overland vehicles with spare electricity tanks strapped on it.
And people bumming for electricity money at the charging stations.
Kid pushing a e-lawnmower through the neighborhood with a gallon of electricity looking for lawns to mow.
If I pour electricity on an ant mound, will it kill them?
What about when I need to light my burn pile? throw some volts on it?
Can I clean greasy truck parts with electricity? - NO!!
I dont think they've really thought this through.

Don’t forget that they are known to cause homosexuality.

We owned a hybrid Toyota Highlander for 9 years….battery was fine When we sold it. My wifes lexus has a 10 yr guarantee on the hybrid battery.

An EV makes sense for a lot of folks that just go to and from work and they can charge from their own solar system on their roof, long payout though.

its expensive for that whole setup though….some body might want to tell Biden and Buttigeg thats not feasible for low income Americans And these are the folks that are disproportionately affected by high energy prices.

Yes you can kill ants with electricity
Yes you can use electricity to light your burn pile
Yea electricity can clean greasy truck parts

This your DuraMax Elkass?

It's a pretty expensive solution that won't have any effect on a problem that doesn't exist. As time goes by it will be harder on the environment than coal and oil. America could fall off the face of the earth and it would have no effect on global CO2 levels. And at 400ppm, earth is in a CO2 drought historically. Life on earth flourished at 1200ppm.

Other than that, I think they're pretty cool if you're rich and it makes you sleep better at night.

You guys don't understand what the push for the electric car is all about. It's not about co2. It's not about the environment. It's about herd control. When they want to lock this b1tch down like Shanghai all they have to do is cut the power and your stuck where they want you unless you want to use manpower.

Who fixes them?

Not enough that the entry price is huge, but most if not all ma and pop shops will be gone. You'll be at the mercy of the dealers for repairs.

As we watch Lake Powell dry up, seems perhaps we should address power generation and infrastructure, or we replace expensive carbon, for expensive electric.

I worry about pretty much all of those already.

I’m still bringing my generator and a gas can when they make me drive an EV.

I can’t wait to pull my electric 5’er into the Electric Maverick for the afternoon.

They changed from Global warming to climate change. It is about lowering the emissions a little but mostly about giving the car manufacturers more capital. EV cars don't average 400 miles on a full battery. The average of all EV cars is about 200 miles per charge. The batteries also shouldn't get charged to 100 % . It makes the battery last longer if you only charge to 90%.
The old program of clunkers for cash was a joke. They ruined decent cars when the crumbles fuel burning cars could have been swapped out at the time. Yes, we will be at the mercy and controlled by the EV evolution. Too many guns and citizens are tired of things. They know to keep up with their fleecing they need to get control.

I think they definitely will grab a foothold. But I think that's more in the commercial market.

Short route haulers, delivery drivers, that kind of thing.

I for one am excited Kali to show us how it's done, as Lake Powell and Lake Mead go dry, and coal generated power becomes off limits. It ought to be glorious

my wifes boss just bought a electric car,64,350.00

I think the tires are made out of rocks ,So they didn't use to much Petroleum products when they manufactured the car!The seats are Grass,They didn't want to use any leather,Animals at stake.

Oh and the war in UKRAINE its not adding to the Global warming or Climate change issue at all!

This like everything else will get better as time goes on. Batteries are the future. Never thought I would say that but with my mower and all the other tools that I use that require batteries I’ve realized that it’s here to stay. We’ve been using batteries before I was born, they keep refining them yearly. You can get a battery powered lawn mower now that will mow 2 acres on a single charge. I won’t live long enough to see a battery operated pickup tow my trailer to my elk camp and back to my home. My grandkids might.

Is the military going to run fighter jets, missiles, tanks, and destroyers on batteries?

Hhhhhhhhhhhhhhell no. They know a battery is strategic suicide.

Look if you want to have battery mowers, and drills, and toasters, cool. But a battery car is like putting a choke chain on and handing the leash to the government.

It's the same thing as if they government made every gun in the US have an on/off switch that they have control of. Would you let them do that?

Are you sure it’s not a plank in the democrat platform?

The carriage makers said the same thing about the automobile. “They will never replace horse and buggy with motorized vehicles” I remember growing up the telephone set on the table in the living room next to my dads recliner, didn’t move. Now I can put a phone in my pocket and go to China if I want. My mom used to heat things up in the oven or we ate it cold until dad brought home a microwave, not to mention the washer, dryer, televisions, even a trip to the moon we’ve witnessed. This world has made so many technological advances in the past few decades that trump all previous advances. We don’t know what is in store for future generations but whatever it is batteries will have its place amongst them. Just look at us communicating with each other on this forum using a battery!

That’s true Bigfoot. I giggle every time I pick up my Stihl battery chainsaw. The first one I saw, about 3 years ago, I laughed at it.
I’m currently laughing at those newfangled battery operated cars….

There is a big difference between people deciding a car is better than a carriage, and the government deciding which one you should be riding.

As best I can tell from history the US government never legislated against carriages in an effort to force you to purchase a car.

I have no problem if battery cars out performed and out priced standard vehicles AND THE PUBLIC CHOSE THEM OVER PETROL. But they don't.

I could be wrong but as I look back over known history it seems the last 150 years has been an age of accelerating scientific knowledge and technological advancement. A lot of us have been fortunate enough to have lived through almost 50% of that period and enjoyed the benefits of aeronautical, electrical, hydrocarbon, medical, space, marine, environmental and countless other sub-science fields. Talk about eating the heart out of the watermen, man……. compared to any previous generation, we’ve done it.

Until the last 10 or 15 years, in USA citizens we’ve been allowed, on an individual basis, to pick and choose, which medicine, which electrical product, which aeronautical, which hydrocarbon product we want to buy and use. That’s worked extremely well, in spite the many and varied marketing and free enterprise tactics that have been used to sell us these scientific advancements. What’s changed is governmental usage of regulations and pressures and the apparent effort to replace market acceptance and market demand to determine scientific acceptance. This limits the number individual humans to drive future research, discovery and new knowledge and ultimately the narrowing ability of humans to free flow better and better solutions to human needs, wants and interests. It will, prevent free thought ad an avenue to discover, blocked by a small group of the elite. I find that to be a suffocating and dangerous path to follow. In fact, while it may be possible to get away with for a few generations, history tells me you can not stop human exploration and discovery indefinitely. Eventually, like water pressure, it will find an outlet and bubble back to the surface and run free again.

I’m all for electric cars or any other kind of car/truck/train or airplane but I resent have anyone one of them forced on me by government command or government manipulation. It’s a faulty system and much like attempting to shove a chain up a hill.

The government forces its will upon you in hundreds of ways daily. It’s the system we live under. The government is the people…

So how many different styles of plugin do all the makers have. I see some companies will install the one at your home if buy their car
is it going to be like a cell phone plugin, now each time you upgrade you have spend another $30-$40 for one to fit your new cell phone.
do you get a map showing where to stop and to recharge the battery.
less then 400 miles is a tough sale for each charge.

Funny how those of us who want to keep driving our fossil-fueled vehicles that can utilize the newest nav systems to get us to within 25 feet of our programmed destinations, are considered Luddites in the eyes of the lefties.

Spoken like a true flatlander.

I just did a 200+ mile, high speed run in the canyons. My batteries would be toast and I'd have to walk home from the office since I cannot charge one here.
Sounds impractical for what I do.

80-20 still rules all “government” and feudalistic mega-corporations, which are no long part of free enterprise. Current electric vehicles are for city dwellers that drive less than a 100 miles per day. That’s the target and that’s what they are focused on.

Will the other 20% ever have a e-solution? Can’t say e-solutions will last long enough, if they do, then yes, new, more practical solutions for the other 20% will be provided……. at a relative price point of course. Remember what the first IBM computers were targeted at and how much they cost. Our smartphone had ten times more technology today.

If it lasts, it will have to fill all of the nitches. Unless they collapse the world economy and it’s sociology, it or something better will come along. The technology bone yard is pilled wide and deep.

That’s a service vehicle, right BC, to send out to refuel….. I mean recharge empty fuel cells.

That not a bad business to consider for a retired plumber…… or so I’ve been told.

Don’t ask questions that make sense! Just remember all the unicorns and leprechauns that you save when you drive one! Oh and don’t mind the massive pit mines all over the world to unearth all the rare earth minerals to make the batteries…. Oh I sure hope we don’t run out of stuff to make batteries with what would happen then ?

Yes they're a terrible idea, look at poor Elon Musk he can hardly put food on the table.

Electric is the thing of the future and all the auto companies know it. and for lots of people they make perfect sense .

For most people in rural areas or that have something to tow or haul they're probably never going to be big sellers. I can't see me ever buying electric. but as long as I can still get gas and diesel vehicles I don't give a FF what someone else wants to drive.

Hey dude!

I'm Calling You On That!

As Soon as There's No Other Option But Electric in a KING RANCH You'll Have One!

Maybe You Could Right it Off Or Maybe Figure a Way For Biden To Buy You One!

I drive a total 65 miles each day going to and from work but I also love to hunt and frequently need to pull our boat or trailered SXS. So I own an F-150 and a Tesla. Both vehicles serve their purpose. I have to admit that I love my Tesla and I’m still attracted to women. I’m glad I dodged that bullet! ?

Rumor is Elon has a threesome with Johnny Depp ex, and some other chick.

Perhaps Chuck's dig electric?

Not sure if anyone mentioned it, I'm not going through all the comments, but when I was a firefighter we did special trainings just for E vehicles. Those batteries were dangerous as H E double tooth picks.....I remember the old chief just telling us all behind a closed door "if no life or structure is in danger, let that sumbtch burn to the ground, then go in and deal with the clean up".

If I was still driving my F150 to work every day, I would be spending over $500 a month on gas. Last month I spent roughly $85 to charge my car and drive nearly 2500 miles.

You Drive a TESLA?
I have a model S long range version. It will drive nearly 360 miles on a single charge. When I plug it in at home it charges 50 miles for every hour. And it is fast! I program it to charge late at night when power rates are the lowest. One of these days I’ll have to drive my rig out to the basin and pick you up to go look at some of those monster bucks!

Come on Bessy! A new Tesla is relatively cheap compared to that 100K smoke belcher that you are driving. I was looking to purchase a new truck but when I saw new truck prices, I decided to buy a Tesla and keep my old truck. And I was only looking at a standard F150 not a high-end diesel rig like you. Stop sandbagging!

You really don't know how Musk is making money?

Right or wrong, they're here to stay. I just hope the climate will settle down. Year around temps of about 75. Not too much rain and not too little, and the Polar bears prosper.

I’d like to see anyone hook their EV to a big ol gooseneck load of cows and drive to Wyoming or Colorado and back in a day with no issues at all and spending a max of 10 minutes at a gas station to fill up. It’s not possible. I’d be surprised if it ever was possible. I could see how they could work for commuters in the city or somethin like that, but the electricity still has to come from somewhere. I’d dare say the majority of that electricity comes from burning fossil fuels.

Remember what the first IBM computers were targeted at and how much they cost.
I can tell you exactly for my IBM 5150 in 1982-- $5700, packaged with monitor, keyboard & a dot-matrix printer. Wordstar was about $500 extra. I still have it as well as a few other computer generations.

I wonder when the EV folks will start building their own roads?

It is a big free load they are pulling off right now

Utah is talking about imposing a "road usage fee" that would tax electric vehicles but that has not happened yet. In the meantime, thank for sharing your roads and funding the maintenance Hoss!

By the way, I filled my truck's 36-gallon tank up with gas yesterday for the first time since early March. Ouch!

See, that's all I wanted was a thank you?

Ya. Try filling up the Cummins????

I do belive Utah County has the highest per capita ownership of Tesla's in the country. It is insane the amount of Tesla's on I-15 from Orem to Lehigh.

We are starting to see them in Eastern NM now. Mostly from transplant military personnel I speculate. Cool looking cars.

Danger comes with being a first responder, it’s what they get paid to do.
I wasn't paid though, in fact alot of first responders are volunteer. And these E cars are only making the Job that much more dangerous. We were fortunate to have someone with the knowledge come to our department and teach us how to handle fires or crashes with E cars, some other departments aren't so lucky.

So you get little Timmy who just turned 18 and knows only how to put water on the red hot stuff....well with an E car, little Timmy ain't gonna be standin much longer after.

Understandable. I’m sure that information will be incorporated into all future training, it should be. Training is ever-evolving, that’s why first responders train so much. My hat off to you for undertaking that endeavor.

Absolutely, the motto was always "train like you play" so you were ready for anything.

Sadly so many of these "not so large" towns or departments have the funding to get adequate training other than maybe buying a video. Just like the need for a change in the power grid (if E vehicles are going to be taking over) there will need to be many many other changes in many other fields as well.

I drove to El Paso, Tx, from Alamogordo NM, for five years, 166 miles a day, five days a week. I had a Ford Focus that got about 50 mpg at times. I didn’t feel sexy or macho but it did what I intended it to do. I’m with you when it comes to saving a buck or two that I can apply to my hunts.

My wife has an electric. She commutes 41 miles each way. She has had the car for 5 years and around 105,000 miles logged and zero problems. I also own a truck. Each has its purposes and uses. I am not really sure why some people want to hate on them. They have many advantages you won’t believe until you run one. Our electric bill is about 60-70 dollars more a month now but some of that might also be the prices going up. Either way it has been a great deal for us. I laugh every time she drives to town for a dollar. I guess some people just gotta hate on something.

Electric Cars and God seem to be this months flavor! ?

So you bought a $65K car to save $20 in gas? Makes perfect sense to me.
Real world, cost per mile analysis will start to play a bigger roll as the typical American starts to utilize the product. Until there is longevity and maintenance cost averages, it’s mostly a guess….. it may not matter, if e-products are the only option available……. I believe that is what the “folk” are planning on, sooner than latter.

I DO NOT hate electric cars....I hate being told I'll have no choice but electric....
In fact…… I may love’em but………. Mind your own damn business. Next thing you know they’ll be telling what kind of shirt I can wear.

Sneakin around Road Hunting in a TESLA!:D

Will You Be Able To Drive it 300,000 Miles With Not Too Much Maintenance?

Exactly. Folks who are buying EVs are just keeping up with the jones. Status symbol...

I doubt they really bought it to save "money". Who in in their right mind wake up and say "hey, today is the day I want to spend $65K for an EV so I can save $20 in gas"!

My wife is pushing me to get her one. And no, not because she wants to save gas $$.

Besides keeping up with others, I believe there are some……. that see it as supporting their belief that electric vehicles is the moral thing to do. Maybe even a few that really can’t afford one, without significant sacrifice, but one “to do their fair share to save life on earth”, and still others that just have a compulsion to own new products (they call them early adopters. They buy a lot of different kinds of gadgets……. as well as major heavy duty items). But, for what ever the reason, it is kind of the typical life cycle for innovative solutions……… the new wrinkle is the propaganda and the pressure that is being applied by government and that’s a dark road to start down. For one thing it limits innovation and natural human discovery and the natural selection of the best solutions verse the solution the government wants you to use, because they are more moral, intelligent, advanced, persecutive, caring, etc than the majority of civilization.

Again……I have no problem what ever if people buy e-cars……. I do object to the process. But……. to each his own, I believe in that, a lot.

A lot of hunting folks buy a big bad $70,000 + four wheel drive truck that they may throw into four wheel drive once a year.
