Wyoming NR 10 pts

So I am going in to this draw with 10 NR points for deer. Does anyone have any recommendations on hunts to consider? I have max points for elk i'm waiting to hear about so that will determine if I end up applying for deer this year or just collect another bonus point. I am pretty open to ideas or suggestions. I have looked into maybe units 34 or 89? I hunted 102 years ago and had a great time. I ended up with a nice 170ish 4point, saw tons of deer and very few hunters. We might be hard pressed to replicate that experience but figured I'd check here for ideas.
Thanks in advance!

Naw bad joke. I would look at something near where your elk tag would be. If a big buck is what you desire I would wait another year. The winter wasn’t bad this year and another mild winter sure would be nice to chase some mature bucks around.

I wouldn’t spend 10 points on 34 unless you can scout it a lot.

I was going to try and burn my 10 or 11 points on region G this year, but then I drew a New Mexico elk tag. So I guess maybe next year… good luck on whatever you decide.

I'm with SS. I hunted 34 a few years ago and had a great time but I don't think it's worth the points it takes to draw. I took a quick look and both 34 and 89 are taking NR tag cuts this year and based off last year's numbers you probably won't draw with 10 anyhow. Looks like Region G would be your best option if you are really itching to go after deer this year. I'm happy to share my experience from 34.

I’d love to hear your experience. If I draw my elk tag this year I will hold of on deer until next year so I’m not anxious to burn my points. I’m also willing to to the expensive tag. It is usually beneficial in those upper point units.

I'd do G, no hesitation and ya might be able to draw it 'cheapie fee' and have a really good hunt.

Enjoy, whatever ya decide on,

Robb
I’ve honestly never hunted G and really never spent much time in the unit. It seems like an amazing hunt but also seems like everyone bashes in it for. It being a great area anymore. Maybe that’s just compared to what it used to be. Is it possible to go in with no previous experience and still have a chance at a good buck?

34 and Region G are two very different hunts. Depends on what type of hunt you want. From my experience in 34 its a pretty easy hunt terrain wise. We saw about 20-30 bucks a day. A guy can just drive around and glass and see a bunch of bucks if you're into that. We were able to find some decent hunts in between roads and found some slightly larger bucks but still nothing spectacular. Mostly 18-22 inch 3 and 4pts. We did see a 28" 3x3 on opening morning we passed on and then couldn't find him again a little later in the hunt when we realized he looked pretty good compared to what we were seeing, lol. A great hunt if your expectations on a monster buck are tempered. You will have a much better chance at a larger buck in G, although you will have to hunt a lot harder to get him.
