I was given the AKEK to review on another forum. I’m having a hard time making it comfortable for my anatomy. The large pad in the center of the belt is not comfortable for me And you can’t move it or replace it with a thinner pad. I’ll be honest and say it won’t be getting an overall positive review from me. If I had bought it I would be very unhappy.

Thanks for the heads up
You sent me that picture and not sure where your at…. No biggie I don’t have time this spring anyway but I’ll pound them this fall.
Your always invited!

Anyone have a way to cook these fancy buzzards that actually makes them worth eating? LOL!
1 cup soy, 1 cup Wesson oil, 1 cup 7up, cut the breast into steaks, let marinate over night, then bbq. Doesn't get any better! Legs make great turkey noodle soup. Throw them in the crock pot til the meat falls off. Wild turkey is one of our favorite.

Thats the old Manti Turkey/Chicken Recipe there Wiffy!
Great stuff! Like any wild game, don't over cook it!

Love wild turkey. My family liked it best with breast sliced thin, floured and fried with gravy. Used leg/thigh quarters to make soup or a turkey spaghetti with Mexican style sauce.

I guess I was a little surprised at your question. I’ve killed very few, three to be exact, so I haven’t eaten many of them. I felt like they were all as good as domestics turkey………without a lot of seasoning or sauces even.

Having said that, we all have different tastes and I have my share of dislikes too so I can guess I shouldn’t be too shocked……

They are a fun bird to watch, just never really got hooked on hunting them, like I am some other critters.

Yes we all have different tastes. In all honesty I’m not real crazy about domestic turkey either. I’ve killed my share of wild turkeys and I quit killing them years ago because I just don’t care for the taste of them. I do have lots of turkeys in my yard just about year round. They really are fun to watch.

I respect you for that. I did the same thing with elk. Don’t care for the meat flavor so I could no longer like myself in the eye when it came to killing them. It’s been over twenty years since I even bought an elk tag. Sure enjoy listening to them and watch them interact. They’re a great big game species.

I do keep a bunch of cow elk points however, just in case a youth hunter needs a mentored hunt someday.

I've probably aged out of the youth hunter designation.

Anyone getting out for a final day hoorah?! Haha I’m getting my second day out tomorrow and going to give it hell! Any beard or bust! To the fellows who don’t like the taste, come to my house for thanksgiving, the wild bird, brined and smoked, was favored almost two to one over a domestic Turkey that was deep fried.

i bailed on the last day... hunted pretty hard in four locations around the front range and new castle. had a jake on private gobbling back to me for an hour on public but wouldn't come off that beautiful private land. only gobble i heard. tough year. saw lots of large toms on private land, so they are there somewhere!

Final day and saw Turkeys, got under ten yards on them, unfortunately it was a hen and her brood of poults. Did see an absolute tank tank of a black bear which was cool. Two days in the field this year and saw turkeys both days unfortunately it was all hens this year for me. Until next spring I guess…
