Lik2hnt, you will not believe it, but CA. has castle law that does not require you to retreat if someone breaks into your home. That is the law was valid when I retired from law enforcement in 2003. It was implemented in the late 80's or early 90's.

Hazards of the job. They brought guns, they knew what they were getting into. Two of them is what we used to call DRT,

I was stationed in CA a couple times. Kern County, not a problem getting a permit.

County of Kings....slight issue until the local deputies wanted to use my pool for some deep water training.
 
Feddoc you will find that most northern Sheriff departments are very pro gun and no problem getting a concealed weapons permit. Reason why is most Sheriffs must answer to the citizens in the county and not to a liberal city board members like a Chief of police has to do.
