Drew the tag very unexpectedly with only 6 points. I know 121 holds some good elk but I'm not sure about these hunt dates in the unit. Its a new tag for this year and i went for it. Is it a good tag or do these new later dates make it not such a great hunt?
Is it a good tag? Some of the best elk hunting in the west is around Ely, NV. Its also one of the coldest places you’ll ever be in that time of year so plan accordingly. Good luck.

I archery hunted 12 about 4-5 years ago. Elk are not too hard to find. I had an awesome hut. Was in elk daily. Saw multiple bulls every day and ended up killing a fine bull after passing several. Don't know what it's like in November, though. I cannot imagine not being able to find elk there. Trophy quality may not be quite as good as the other side of the highway, but it was plenty good enough for me! I finally got close enough to bury an arrow into this bull after several encounters with him and others. There were at least 2 or 3 bigger bulls in the area but I wasn't able to make it happen on them. But man! Was it ever fun trying!! One of my top 3 elk hunts ever. PM for more details if you like.
I live in 121 here in ely. They added the late season then cut the tag quota in the early season to limit hunters in the field the elk will still be all over.
I drew a muzzy bull tag in this unit this year with 17 points, my dad drew a spike tag in this unit this year. last year we killed 4 cows and 1 spike outta here. The elk are literally everywhere.
