Point Creep Deer

How bad do you think point creep will be this year? Only one more week and we will find out for sure. I think it will be less than it was last year but I'm guessing some of the more popular units will probably see some increases.

I'm with El Gringo. Last year was brutal and hopefully the big point creep year. Hopefully this year stays flat or even drops a point or two after last year and a lot of people burning their points.

I think a lot of guys did not draw last year and will want to burn their points this year. And they will all have another point. I’m guessing it stays about even for most units and then hopefully goes down slightly next year..but then again a ton of guys are just now getting into the game.

I don’t see it slowing down. A lot of people cashed and burned last year with the anticipation of the slaughter that the deer seemed destined for. One of these years the weather is going to line up and what’s left of the big deer is going to get cleaned out.

I think the few decent units that are left point creep will be significant. The other majority of poor units will stay about the same.
Used to be a lot of great easy to draw units in Colorado, unfortunately that is no longer the case. You are really beating the odds finding and harvesting a great buck in the easier to draw units.
The sad truth is the great mule deer that Colorado is famous for is a thing of the past.
It’s sickening really, Colorado had such a great thing going. They really had it figured out and had set the standard for good mule deer management, that other states could learn from. Too bad the people calling the shots F’d it up and made quick work of wrecking a great resource.
CO boy nailed it, one snowy fall when all the stars align and that will be all she wrote.

I'm guessing a lot of the higher point holders will again be trying for the top units for 3rd and 4th season. With wolves, a governing board that isn't pro-hunting, the talk of changing the draw system, etc, will probably make some guys decide to cash out like I did last year. I'd guess not as much creep in the low to mid point units, but we'll see next week.

Big increase. Talk of lowering NR percentage and the simple expense of applying. We put in for a unit with a 2 point cushion. Lots of people getting out of the point game.

I have found I prefer family general hunts over limited entry. Shoot a 330 bull myself or watch a niece shoot her first rag horn. So much more fun to watch the niece and meat is better!

I think big also if WY is any indication. Im hoping for a deer tag but honestly think Im 2 years away from drawing.
