?I still say we need to do away with refunds all together. Draw odds would start getting a lot better if every state made you pay full price win or lose
Betcha have a better chance of drawing at tag. What’s it worth to ya?
3k is a lot to loose just for a chance at a tag with no guarantee.Betcha have a better chance of drawing at tag. What’s it worth to ya?
Sounds like making it more of a rich man’s sport. That’s my point. Weed out the tourists and there’s shorter lines for the rides
I don’t know. In state applications would be what 2-300 bucks you don’t get back. Then if your serious about out of state save up a couple grand and just put in for one. Think if 90% of the guys putting in for multiple states on a CC had to try and explain to there dives that 10-12 grand a year for a chance is money we’ll spent. Draw odds would skyrocket for those willing to commit.Sounds like making it more of a rich man’s sport.
None refundable would make it more of a rich mans sport. Just being able to apply for hunts in multiple western states is already too expensive for many hunters now. I would estimate that over the last 5 years I've averaged $2000 per year in application fees and probably over $4000 per year when you add in tag fees and other "taxes" such as $81.75 for an archery permit in Idaho.I don’t know. Of course this is all nonsense but it’s fun to think about
As nonresidents we are already spending about $250 in nonrefundable license and application fee for moose, sheep and mountain goat. Nonrefundable resident fees are only about 10% of what nonresidents pay.I would gladly pay the resident price and have it be non-refundable. I agree it would cause odds to improve, by how much who knows.
I don't want hunting to become any more of a rich man's sport than it already is, but no one is hunting sheep or goats for food (even though sheep are delicious).
I forgot to add all the fees. I applied for moose last year and the license plus other nonrefundable fees was over $300. I applied for deer, elk and antelope this year.FWIW, total non-refundable fees for an OIL species app as a NR is 330.78.
Do they send a check or credit your card back? Not yet. I checked back and mine arrived on June 3rd last year, on June 9th in 2020, on June 13th in 2019, and on June 29th in 2018. They're still kinda' pokey, but have slowly been improving.
Unless of course you applied at a vendorThe refund goes back onto your card.
Says the Idaho resident who pays less than $200 if applying for OIL tags. You willing to fork over 3K for you’re OIL tag with no refund? I don’t think so!!!Some pretty good examples here of how fast guys would drop out of the draws were there no refunds to apply. Makes ya think, could be good..,
for another state with better draw odds if i do? yup. see aboveSays the Idaho resident who pays less than $200 if applying for OIL tags. You willing to fork over 3K for you’re OIL tag with no refund? I don’t think so!!!
It’s not an “if” option. Fork over the dough with piss poor odds, no guarantees in life. How many states do you apply in? I’m betting none!!for another state with better draw odds if i do? yup. see above
none of this makes any sense except the last assumption there. little early to be drinking isn't it?It’s not an “if” option. Fork over the dough with piss poor odds, no guarantees in life. How many states do you apply in? I’m betting none!!
how many would you put in for if you didn't get your money back either way?I do put in for multiple states!! New Mexico alone is a pushing close to 8 grande. It’s not about application fees and costs it’s about running a efficient system and returning peoples money in a timely fashion. It would be one thing if they were gaining interest in on it.
It’s about damn time!!My moose refund is pending on my credit card now.
