I cashed in all my points (13) on a 61 first season rifle hunt. I am wondering if anyone would like to give me some pointer on where to start scouting? Ya, I know figure it out for yourself...
I thought I was going to hire an outfitter, just cannot swing it this year, so it's DIY for me. I already have a hand full of info and locations in my back pocket, it just a huge unit and would like not to miss anything.

Aaron, I had that tag in 2020, it was a fun hunt by I ate my tag. I just couldn't turn up a bull that I thought was worthy. You can scout anywhere you want, don't know how familiar you are with the area but like you said, it is huge. I will say, be mobile, I got hung up on a certain area that I knew a big bull was hanging in and spent all 5 days focusing on him and ultimately ended up eating my tag over it after passing some bulls that I should've shot. You will find elk in almost every place that you look. My advice to you is go into this hunt with reasonable expectations, if you are thinking that a 300"-330" bull is behind every tree you will have your work cut out for you, it is do-able but don't pass on the first day what you would settle for on the last. Just my $0.02.

The best advice I could give you is, just concentrate on a hand full of areas. Don't try and learn the whole area. It will be impossible to do that. Spend as much time as possible scouting, however you can.
