128-1 Deer Now What?

You just drew a tag that has less than 2% resident draw odds. I'd probably go learn the roads for a weekend in August then devote all my time to the last 16 days of the season. Burn the weekends on the general hunts.

He's a roadless hunter...it's against his religion to learn the roads...??

I can draw a couple 2% chance tags for moose and deer, but have yet to draw 93-1 antelope I'm 0 for 8 since moving to Wyoming. My co worker is 0 for 12 on antelope and didn't draw a 70% chance unit this year. Lol maybe I should party app with him next year and really confuse the draw system.

There's several 128 threads in here. Look through those as they're fun reads. Special opportunity, don't waste it, though there may be bigger bucks where you've been hunting then what you might find in 128...it's just you get to hunt in November. My family missed on 93 antelope too so you're not alone.

I've hunted it twice and hoped to again but I didn't draw .

It's a fun hunt in beautiful country, as you'd expect the weather will have a big impact on the hunting. plenty of public land but a lot of the deer will be on the private. most of the hunters will be in the lawyer ranch area because that's where most of the deer will be. but you can find a buck anywhere so check it all out.

While some big bucks are taken every year it's important to go into it understanding this, it's one of the most fun hunts you'll ever do but it's not really a trophy hunt. if it's 180 or bust expect to bust.

I took a 202" buck out of it 20 years ago, my wife had it 10 years ago and we didn't see anything over 160. I think it's improved some since then so I'd say 170 is a realistic goal . maybe someone who's hunted more recently has a better idea of current expectations.
