Hey all, i decided to shoot for the stars and got lucky to draw this tag with 14 points. I’ve never hunted W. Looking for 180+ but willing to kill a management spike after the first day if I don’t find what I’m looking for. Any help will be much appreciated. Thanks.

Biggest bucks hang out high in W. Hunt over 12,000'. Also look low. Like below 4,000'.

I would send you some GPS coordinates to a good one I have been seeing, but I also drew W. Good luck on your hunt. A 180 should be very doable.

I'd stick around 8,000.....that's what a guy once told me.

You mentioned management spike?? Are you talking about deer or elk? I believe W was 4 point or better last year?

had a dozen of them.....82 was the late season I always wanted.....not anymore

Yes I its in 82 only. Really hard to get. Unless they dropped it.

82 doesn't have a late tag anymore. 180" isn't a reality in that unit anymore. Yes a few may still be taken, but if you see a solid 165 you better make the best of it. May be the only buck over 120" you see all season.
Sadly used to be one of the best general tags in the state. Now, its just a pumpkin patch with a very variable population with no age class.
